Now I'm not saying that we shouldn't have a whinge or question a players worth, but this season has told us something that we need to understand as we build; we need to have a little more patience with new players. Lucas is a prime example of how players with potential can be hammered for game after game but will eventually blossom into a world class player. Skrtel was derided under Roy bloody Hodgson. Yesterday, he looked like a world class defender. Downing looked lively yesterday until he was played on the right, if he could deliver performances like his last two in every game, he'd be fine. Henderson, Carroll and Adam need to improve and I believe that they will, given their age. However, I wouldn't let Charlie Adam near a penalty kick unless we were a few up! Johnson is another who has taken stick but for me, he is one of the most under-rated players in our team. Finally, a special mention to Dirk Kuyt. Always knocked for having no pace or no skill, even by our own....another under-rated player; I hope we don't let him move on next year, I for one value what he brings to the team in certain matches. So, despite the fact that we are a little off challenging for 4th, which is disappointing, we have to see the bigger picture and see how much the squad as a whole has impressed and how individuals, given time, can find their way in the squad. All that said. I want us to go and buy some real pace and some midfield creativity and someone who can stick the ball into the back of the net! 3 players please (£60m) YNWA
Totally agree. Johnson is much maligned and is a quiet man but effeictve and he stood up to show his mettle. He's the only player we have with an english league medal btw. Skertl really showed what he was made of as well. I hope he bosses carrgher around now cos lord help us. henderson is young and he'll learn from that game. It was too big for him so he needs to internalise that and come back with something extra. i totally agree o nthe 60mil as well, the final showed the same old flaws and more quality is needed in the future but today enjoy the feeling. This day ought to bring to an end a disasterous chapter in hour history for many reasons. silverware has that effect.
