For all the progress we have made since MON was appointed there seems to be quiet a flat feel about the place at the moment (I know not everyone ,Cest. But in general) Maybe this is down to the lack of activity in the transfer market (more so now our neighbours have done a bit of business) Would anyone be really surprised if we started February with no new faces. unless we pick up a major injury this weekend I wouldn't be surprised if MON feels we have enough to get through this season with little trouble. I think the top 7 won't change (not the positions ,but the teams ) After this we have WBA in 15th on 22 points then Stoke in 8th on 30 points. That means a mini league of 8 teams battling it out 8th spot (that leaves the current bottom 5 fighting for survival) Do we have enough to compete with these 8 teams and have real go for 8th with what we have got. The next 2 home games are massive , playing two teams in "mini league" both in decent form will give us a good indication ( I think we will take 6 points and be in a good position to compete for 8th spot) And I think this is part of MON,s thinking , I think that MON feels that even with a couple of new faces in 8th is the best we could finish, but I think that he feels the squad he has now is good enough to push for 8th, and he woUld rather keep his funds for the summer, it's just a thought though

for the 1st time in ages i'm not arsed if we buy in January, we've got enough quality and confidence (thanks to O'neill) to make the top half as Europe is out of reach imo, if we buy, then great, if not, so be it, we've got Wickham back and also Campbell is just about there so happy days,. Personally i think we'll bring 2 in but there you go

We are one piece of a puzzle missing from being a top 8 team this year. If we bring in a goalscorer we can achieve that if not I don't think we will. I would however be content with staying comfortable for the remainder of the season and have no fears of the drop like we have the last 4 years.

Not an expert on ffp but would it not make sense to spend big now before the new rules kick in?

6 weeks ago all we wanted was not to be relegated. We won't be imo now even If no new faces are added. We all wanted the January window to put right the failed Bruce regime but that has abated somewhat since he was replaced and we have won a few games. We have enough in the tank to get another 17 points imo again and can afford to be patient on the striker front until August if necessary.

If the right player comes up I'm sure we will be in for them but why do some people think its gone flat? I can't wait for games these days personally after 11 dreadful months.
