Why was Crimewatch UK cancelled?

I stumbled across a hilarious thread from 2011 .

"I was watching crime watch last night and can't believe the number of black and Asian people committing crime compared to White people. "How can it be racist if they are employing a high proportion of black/ asian etc actors in their reconstruction films.

I'm sure the actors have no qualms about getting a day or so's paid work depicting a real criminal who has been identified by the victim or witnesses.
Obviously if they were using white actors and "blacking them up" then that would be racist !!!

Is that actually the reason Crimewatch was axed? It was a very success show.

 

The reason given was falling ratings. One can't help but feel that the weekly most wanted galleries of blacks, Asians with beards, Eastern Europeans and travellers didn't exactly fit with the diversity narrative.

 

I wonder if any famous actors career included a stint in a reconstruction?
