Bates has already come out and publicly stated that he wants promotion this year and that he is looking for staff to improve the club. With that in mind, if Grayson doesn't bring in proper quality signings in the next 6 days that will significantly improve the first team, then he might as well start clearing out his desk now because Ken will have no hesitation in adding to the unemployment statistics. If this does happen, then for me, Mick McArthy would have to be a serious contender...
face the facts, we will sign nobody of any significance and haven't for a few years. We may even see another good player leave. We're a mid-table selling club with fookall ambition, managed by a numpty and owned by a bandit. I'venever been as depressed following Leeds as i am at the moment
If we were going to get anyone decent we would have had them by now, we would not wait until the closing days. Happens every year under Bates and as I said in another post, wait for the excuses of the ones that got away come Feb 1st
I am expecting one loan and one free agent, Lichaj the loan and some player we will need to google to find out who he is when Grayson gives him a three year contract and he warms the bench now and again.
Seems like we hear similar quotes every transfer window now. I expect something like Delph's loan extended and some ****e 38 year old right back. Then we'll get told that we've signed Rogers (who?), Delph (loan), Pugh (after being on loan and crap), Maik Taylor (reserve keeper - last seen in 2007), Towsend (loan) and that Snodgrass coming back from injury is...like a new signing.
Clayton Lonergan Schmeichal Gradel McCormack Somma And that's not including loans such as: Lichaj Delph Townsend Bannan McCarthy And that's not including players that have come through the academy either such as Lees White Thompson That was a rather silly post imo
While I like McCarthy as a person and a manager, you're missing one important point, he's with a premiership club. We wouldn't attract him in a million years
It wasn't a silly post as those players were hardly of significance when they signed, they were fairly cheap gambles that paid off. Bessone, O'Dea, Forssell, Bruce, O'Brien, Conolly, Paynter, Brown, Rachbuka you can probably name two poor gambles for each decent one and then you have them sitting festering in the reserves draining the little pot that we seem to have.
yea i agree, but they are poor grayson signings but nothing to do with bates. Bates doesn't decide who we sign
I was talking to A FA councillor and former FA board member on Saturday and he reckoned Warnock had pretty much been offered the managers job and Bates was just waiting for the right opportunity to bring him in. He's a pretty knowledgable guy, but I guess he's just losing the plot in his old age.
I'm not claiming he's right, in fact I pretty much said the opposite, but he knows his stuff and isn't the kind of guy who'd spread rumours for the sake of it.
the club are doing their best to sign players of the highest possible quality who would want to live in and work in leeds, the problem is that they look at the team and think 'why would i want to be a lower league player for the next 3 years?' , why not join a more ambitious club who have half a chance of promotion?
