If there were no breaks there be no internationals it's that simple ! Also we need a break to get players back fit, kemy should be available for norwich , monk needs some rest and Britton should also be back, this time the break works for us.

Musty, see your point when you mention Leich v Scotland. If people think Wales have been painful to watch at times, try watching the Jocks.....

I think it's at a good time. We've got a good home win under our belt going into it. That'll have the Swans representatives buzzing!! As long as they don't fall foul to injuries of course. The injured lads' got more time to recover & I think it's good for our country too!! Hopefully, after the vast improvement in the last 2 games, they can go into these 2 matches with such momentum & confidence. I would have preferred that Bulgaria hadn't already sacked their manager yet though......

The breaks are inevitable. Sometimes it works for you, sometimes against. Not sure about us to be honest. On the one hand we're building up a head of steam and the break may disrupt that but on the other we'll be closer to getting our walking wounded back to fitness. On balance it's probably just worked in our favour this time, as Jager says.

international breaks are a welcome privilege that the majority top clubs love, most players have a chance to recharge their batteries and go and visit their families. it is one perk that premiership and a few lower league players enjoy as they don't have to play every week. for some clubs its even more welcomed where they have a number of small injuries that can be cleared up within the break. like it or not it is welcomed by most clubs,

Well, I don't know about anyone else, but I'm actually looking forward to a couple of Welsh matches in this international window. Is the Welsh team finally turning a corner? 2 wins and we'll be looking in much better shape, anything other than that and the jury is still going to be out on Speed and his troops. Finally we have a team packed with Premiership players, hopefully they can gel and really propel Wales up the FIFA rankings...

championship clubs don't play at the beginning of the season but as we move on the only championship clubs with two or more of their players on international duties wont play, its always been that way.....hence why they play 46 games and we play 38....

Happy for them to happen, as long as they don't pick up needless injuries. Club first, I am afraid.

Its a very welcome break for the swans providing Allen (if he starts) and Williams dont pick up knocks. Should give our players who are going to be a bit tired and coming back from injury a little bit extra time to get fighting fit for the next 2 away games which are IMO are huge

Sorry, Dai, but going to have to pull you up on a few things here.

The majority of TOP clubs HATE international breaks because a large proportion of their players will be on international duty and could come back injured.
Teams in the bottom half of the Premier League and most, if not all, Championship clubs are more inclined to welcome the break as they have less, or possibly no players, on international duty and as pointed out it gives time for injured players to recover etc etc. But equally teams on a bit of a roll would probably prefer to keep going.

We have had rounds of Euro 2012 qualifiers in September and October (the coming week) and there have been no Premier League or Championship fixtures. The 'play-offs' for those teams which have come second in their groups will take place over November 12/13 weekend and midweek after and again there are no Premier League or Championship fixtures. It's unlikely that England or Wales will be in the play-offs so no Swansea players are likely to feature. Netherlands have already qualified, so Vorm is free as well.

Beyond that there are no more internationals until Euro 2012 kicks off in June 2012 other than the odd friendly next spring and as far as I know there are no fixture cancellations for friendlies.

I'm sure this is blindingly obvious, but the Premier League plays 38 games because there are only 20 teams, and this is because about half the teams are involved in European club competitions up to Christmas and with luck, beyond. The remaining 72 teams are split into three equal leagues of 24 meaning they have to play 46 games, which in turn means a lot of midweek league games to fit them all in. But it's got nothing to do with internationals.

I think the scenario you have mentioned where Premier league clubs and a few players from lower league clubs got time off for internationals was phased out ages ago. These days Premier League AND Championship fixtures regarding internationals are treated identically. But Leagues 1 & 2 keep going regardless.

    Phew!

ask the players and they welcome a break, clubs welcome a break, its something that top clubs look forward to to recharge batteries, get players fit, visit families. its definitely most welcomed by top players, they are even thinking about a 6 week break during the severe weather period like other countries does. that imo is a good thing, its a known fact that there are more injuries on frozen and wet pitches than any other time of the season. We need to follow other countries in their example and introduce a winter break. it would benefit everyone in the long run. I'm all for it...

20 + 24 + 24 + 24 = 92. why not add 8 teams to the EPL and have 5 divisions of 20 or is this another of my stupid comments, would that assist a winter break which some are pro and others anti?
