Now alot of you said that Crystal Palace are a bogey team for us and we should be happy with a point from them, and some people might argue that Burnley are too given our away record there. However, it might be the case for us as fans that we have lots of memories of bad games against these teams but this is just superstition. If you think rationally there is no reason why we would be any more likely to lose to Burnley then we would be to any other team equally is good. I say this, because firstly Paul Lambert isn't one I'd have down as superstitious. He won't go to the game thinking 'this is a bogey team' because to him it's not. And nor is it to the players, because most of them haven't been with the club long enough to of played against Burnley away [As Norwich players] so have no bad experiences to psychologically affect them and as far as their concerned if they managed to get a draw in our first meeting, there's no reason why can't win this time round. I'm not sure if I'm getting the point I'm trying to make across clearly, but the gist of it is that our club's past games against Burnley have nothing or very little to do with the present. So if we do lose to Burnley tomorrow it will be because we played poorly or because Burnley are a very strong side who play well at home (Or both) and nothing to do with the fact our record there is fairly weak.
I don't believe in superstition either, and, as you say Marsupial, it is the first time to Burnley (as Canaries) for most of the squad, the management, and even some of the board, why should they feel anything negative? I do, however, believe in Karma, and I think we owe the Burnley scum a right good stuffing for trying to poach our manager. Fingers crossed.......... (is it a superstition about crossing your fingers when you're hoping for something?)
I'm not superstitious either, but is it not the case that occasionally teams which have a particular playing style and have done for many seasons could pose more problems to us than others. I'm not saying this is necessarily the case with Palace or Burnley, just putting it out there...
I think bogey teams are entirely down to coincidence. If you think about it, each English Football League club has played against around 50 teams at least 10-20 times in its existence. Therefore, it is more than likely that there will be 2 or 3 teams that a club will have just happened to lose to many more times than they have won.
