Just interested to see the folllowing: and wondered why the feck UtD get special dispensation because of their capacity Manchester United have complained to the Football Association about their allocation of tickets for January's FA Cup third round tie at Manchester City. Under FA rules, United are entitled to 15% of the capacity of the 47,805-seat Etihad Stadium, which is 7,100 tickets. However, City have offered 5,500, just over 11%, on the grounds of safety. United have special dispensation from the FA, due to Old Trafford's 76,000 capacity, to offer just over 11% to visiting fans, which is 8,500 tickets.
I'm not sure it is a call by the police, living in Manchester it's a call by Utd in the first instance not wanting to pay the extra policing costs and then Man city are saying why the feck should we give you a bigger % allocation?
i don't really have a problem with man united offering less tickets for league games than the 15% - its a massive stadium and to give 15% of their stadium for away games would be nuts as barely anyone could fill it, but in the fa cup the allocation is traditionally bigger and man citeh are being told by the police that they don't want the increased allocation for policing reasons.
United only have to give 8500 for cup games. For league games, I believe they only have to give 3000 tickets. That is terrible as we have to give roughly 2700 to away teams, so that's around 300 less than Man Utd when their capacity is almost three times the size of ours!
Again not sure: The PL maximum allocation is 3000 tickets ( or 10% of capacity if less than 3000) so this is a tiny fraction of OT and will be much less as percentage than any other ground in the country and if the plastic mancs decide to get behind thier team, (well that doesn't often happen) it does confer an unfair advantage. The FA Cup is different and virtually the only time you get a great atmosphere at large grounds is when the home team does allocate 15% as Mancity have done many times in the past, they simply aren't giving Utd the 15% cos utd only give others 11%
Agreed cara, if Utd had to give the same percentage as us, 10% then there would be 7500 away fans at OT for most games, We would have taken and sold those tickets.
How many other clubs would take 7500 to away games. Most clubs outside the Championship don't get that many for home games. Its like cup games when 35,000 want tickets when a non league team with 300 gate gets to the 3rd round against a Prem club. And some bloody baker in the town decks their window in cakes made in the club colours even though the silly bugger doesn't even know where the ground is. I think United, despite half of them being from Belfast or Croydon, have a big following and should expect to get their full entitlement.
