Why the **** didn't they just admit this at the time?

Instead of making up stories of gates being smashed down, destroying cctv tapes, then conspiring with the media to come up with a wicked slur about the fans, had the just told the ****ing truth - they didn't do what they were paid to do.

Still a long way to go with the inquest, so we shouldn't judge too quickly, and neither should Duckenfield be made a scapegoat; not for this anyway. Hope the inquest gets to the who, when and how the cover-up started though (the why is ****ing obvious) as that's where the criminal charges should lay.

Why didn't they admit it? Because they are the lowest form of scumbag cowards in the country. Hiding behind their uniforms in their "gentlemans" clubs....why take the rap when they had ready made scapegoats? Not just football fans but lowlife Scouse ones at that. Suited them to cover it up just like it suited Thatchers government and Murdoch too <ok> (I realise you already know all this DD of course)

Is this an attempt by Duckenfield (****) to excuse himself? Is he trying to pass the buck onto whoever put him in charge? Nice try you little ****er but I can't see many of us saying "Oh you hadn't had much training, so that's ok then". Those of us who either saw first hand or watched the whole thing unravel on tv could see the fans being crushed and yet somehow he didn't notice? What's his excuse for having only one ambulance in? Did nobody train him that ambulances are useful in emergency situations? Somebody certainly trained him how to cover up the deaths of innocent people though eh <ok>

The sort of characters that would commit such a fraud and such a crime would never be the sort to admit to anything negative about their own conduct, self preserving careerists make such a cover up possible in the first place.

    Scummy ****s.

Scapegoating is par for this course Donga, we will certainly not get the why and the who, the real why and who anyway. We will get a half truth, I feel that's as far as the inquest can dig into this by the end, it will only go so far up the ladder, some responsible persons will be shielded from this at all costs.

Duckenfield had very little experience of controlling football games which was one of the initial problems. Had someone been there with more experience the situation may not have got out of control.

But once it did he froze like a rabbit in headlights. Even basic police training should have told him he had a major situation on his hands. He may have an excuse for the situation arising, but no excuse for the way he handled it.

The fact is the ground was unsafe and the match should never have been held there in the first place. Very similar to Heysel, but as always money talks and institutions like the F.A., Police, Parliament will always cover up when something goes wrong as it is their fall back position

"We've decided to make you match commander for the FA Cup semi-final Duckenfield"

"But sir I have no experience or training to do that in a safe manner"

    That's all it took.

But the safety of football supporters back then wasn't a priority, no proper toilet facilities, no safe eating areas within stadiums, overcrowded into away sections, getting off the train at away games and facing snarling police dogs and police, escorted miles to grounds when they could have just layed buses on etc etc

Duckenfield made himself guilty when he accepted the job knowing he never had the correct training, Sheffield Council made themselves guilty by staging a match knowing they never issued the correct safety documents to Sheffield Wednesday and they made themselves guilty by knowingly overcrowding the Leppings Lane End for the sake of a few more grands.

It would have hurt his career to refuse.. and that self preservation cost many lives. Then after that there was more and more self preservation
