http://www.yorkshireeveningpost.co....-attacked-by-huddersfield-town-fans-1-4551309 Absolutely no reason why players should be put in a position where thousands of fans who hate you run straight onto the pitch you're on.
That was no fan, that was joey barton. to be fair, smith has dished some out over the years. plenty of cctv to catch these morons, its happened before, that fan a while back was nicked for punching a player.
Let's face it, it was really just a couple of muppets - look at the MK Dons manager's comments ... hopefully the police will review the footage and collar the knob-heads ... shame to have to put a stop to what are primarily joyous celebrations because a couple of idiots act stupidly ...
dont forget 4 town fans (I knew them all well) where locked up for 18 months for blinding a fellow town fan last season in the play off final! They are thick as ****
... hope you don't live in Huddersfield? ----------------- Not far off but obviously i'm not thinck as ****
That's not why pitch invasions are stupid; it's why Huddersfield fans are stupid. Pitch invasions are a way for football fans to party after celebrating some important victory. Getting to a final doesn't really merit that in my opinion - winning the playoffs, maybe - which is the second reason Huddersfield fans are stupid. The third reason they're stupid is that they hate Alan Smith for being a "Leeds fan" when in fact it would be more effective to side with him since he's hated by the majority of vocal match-going Leeds supporters who recognize how he betrayed the club in numerous ways. In reality, pitch invasions are no different from being in the stands as long as the Police and stewards do their job properly and segregate the necessary groups of people. Don't blame the principle, blame the practice. What's better: outlawing fans from having a good time or clamping down on the risk of some greasy-haired gyppo who gave as good as he got taking a slap?
