Like many fans I have been hunting for the reason we have gone from 5 wins on the bounce to a team where a lot of the players look totally uninterested and not giving their all for the club on the pitch anymore!

We have had many theories’ put out there for all to see but I think it could be something completely different! We had been around 2nd or 3rd place in the league for most of the season and looking very good for promotion to the premiership, I think that’s when the penny dropped with some of the players. Like most teams who get promoted a good half of the players get told they have no future at the club anymore! Now most these players are on very high wages for the championship and everything is nice and comfortable so why kill the golden goose?

I know this is only a theory but I do believe some of our players are trying to hang on to what they already have and a little bit of foot off the peddle would most likely achieve this and result in another comfortable year in the championship.

Why would any of our players decide not to give everything for the team. Most may be on reasonable wages in this league. But winning promotion is going to see wages increased even if they dont play. If they are moved on its a nice entry on your CV to have assisted in aiding your club to promotion. They may not look it at the minute but i doubt anyone at the club at present isnt loyal and as desperate for a shot at the Premier league as the fans themselves. This may be the only shot some will get at the Premier league.

Ive said there is something in this theory and have been poo pooed for it, its all in the head, its probably not done with intent, but subconsciously some know they would deffo be offski ... they are human beings and only looking out for their best interests, lets be honest something is having an effect on the lot of them, and its not nigels team talks..<ok>

after todays game (excellent point!) I think you saw that the players DID give 100% and Nige DID get them motivated. 2 home games to come now, we are still in with a great chance of getting the play offs...Forest could not beat a poor 10 man Blackpool, excellent result for us

I'm not being funny mate, but if the likes of Charlie stop posting on your board, all your going to see,is tumbleweed on here.

Your team are not performing, because they have far more knowledge of what is happening at your club.

With respect, you'll struggle to better Derby's record.

Bruce has proven he knows naff all in the Premier League and, like I've said a thousand times over, a decent side would have ****ing walked the league this season. I really do think that the gap between the Premier League and the NPC has become astronomical and promoted sides will struggle to do anything of note without either experience of success or massive investment and I don't think Cardiff or Hull (or Leicester or anyone in the league) have that yet.

How many players could sign for a PL club tomorrow and make a difference that plays in this division? I really can't see more than the odd 1/2 from the higher placed sides in the league.

From us I would say that Schmeichel, Morgan and perhaps Knockaert (who I think is suited more to the PL, which sort of contradicts what I've said <laugh>) would be able to. Who would you, putting your most honest cap on, put into that category from your team?

I think we'd get ****ing mullered in the Prem.

That first sentence is what we were told repeatedly by everyone in 2008 when we went up, we went on to stay up.

How has Bruce proven that? By taking Birmingham to 12th in the Premier League, and when they went down he took them back up. By keeping Wigan up in his first season there and finishing 11th in his second? By finishing in 13th at Sunderland? He lost all his strikers and was sacked when they were 16th, MON came in and they're lower in the table now than they were under Bruce. So a series of mid-table finishes, yeah, he must know 'naff all'. <laugh>

This gap has been well-documented and over-exaggerated. Look at the relegated sides; Wolves, Blackburn & Bolton, 2 of which, almost stayed up last season. Wolves are in a relegation scrap, Blackburn look doomed and Bolton are in a play-off race. Hardly showing their 'Premier League class' are they? Then look at the promoted sides, in recent years many have done very well, usually only 1 comes down, sometimes 2, barely ever all 3.

From our team (including loans that may become permanents); - Stockdale, Elmo, Chester, Faye, Rosenior, Quinn, Aluko, Meyler, Koren would all most likely find it relatively comfortable. Then the likes of Gedo, Fathi, Fryatt, Evans, Hobbs, McShane, Dudgeon, Cairney & Boyd, I'd expect to stay in the squad and have a go. We'd probably need 4/5 additions to the starting XI and then some squad players. Luckily, it's not my problem to decide, we have a great manager who's done a great job here with a good pedigree who would be challenged with keeping us up. Not many teams get promoted with a manager with almost like 10 years of Premier League experience.

Even if we came straight back down, the money would fund a youth system and we'd come down with a squad good enough to go back up. I wouldn't mind a bit of yo-yo'ing if we ended up in West Brom's situation.

I honestly don't think Nige will ever manage a Premier League side.

Steve Bruce really can't be that bad can he? After all, he is one of only 3 English managers to manage in the Premier League for over 10 years.

And just to clarify, I would have

    Stockdale
    Chester
    Faye
    Hobbs
    Elmo
    Brady
    Meyler
    Quinn
    Fryatt
    Aluko
    Gedo
    Cairney

    all in the Premier League.

Plus, I think Proschwitz and Simpson may be more suited to the Premier League.

Edit: I forgot about Koren, I would have him too.

I think Proschwitz might be more suited to going back to the German second division.

Same old bollcks we were repeatedly told last time we went up.

And you know what, we couldn't give a flying **** if we get tonked every week, or not.

We'll be well over £100m better off, we'll finally build a decent academy, we'll fill the ground every week and we'll have a few decent days out.

    There is no downside.

Prove me wrong, by all means. Although you were mullered for the best part of two seasons..

I don't think a good day out is affected by where you are though. My favourite season was probably our league one campaign and I thought you had loadsamoney?
