What is everyone's reason for choosing to be registered with not606 and actively taking part in its discussions at not606's version of 'The Rainham End'. I originally came here after the closure of BBC606, I had never heard of the site until recommended to me by a friend (exile) in Spain. This is a very young site and has now progressed to 179 registered Gills members (this excludes deleted and spam accounts), 50 of those accounts were actively participating in posts in just a 24hr period check that I made recently. We have been bringing you the breaking news first, as was recently shown with the Martin Allen interview, while other sites were missing the news, we were already reporting the interview up to 24hrs beforehand in some cases. While other message boards may claim to be the best it was probably read here first. So reasons for being here...
I like the attitude here, people discuss things in a friendly way and it is speedy with news coming out. There are a couple of others I read, but I don't particually like them, one board seems to be run as one mans personal kingdom.
One thing I like about Not606 is that it is more open and you can post freely, more than you could on BBC 606 as this site offers more self moderation than BBC 606 did. Also I think the topics are better on here. I come over to here as I was on BBC 606 before however I did not post much, I did not find it as interesting on there but when I see a few had moved here I come over to here and then everyone else did, would not regret moving onto here.
Lack of WUM's is a plus but there is still plenty of good banter. Differences of opinions are met with understanding and acceptance and not abuse unlike other sites. the topics are Gills and Football related rather than just random rubbish And most importantly The exclusive brb prediction league!
For me, just seemed the natural place for Gills chat after the demise of BBC 606. Plus see above from Gemini..
I was missing the 606, had a look across here and recognised posters that I knew had contributed good work on the previous site. I guess it would come down to quality of topics and opinions, lack of wum, pace and how suitable it is for work.
I came over from 606 due to most of the Gills fans I was talking came to this site, I think it is the best site for Gills fans although I do visit others. The only thing I do miss is the inter club banter that was on 606, when it died other club forums went in several other directions, and the inter club discussions dropped off. We seem to get information on here quicker than the other sites and the information is generaly more accurate, the lack of WUMs is also good, some sites like the kentonline forum is full of them. Difference in oppionion is accepted for what it is, and is not greated with abuse as already stated by Gemini. UTG!!
I think it was the vodka that decided it, that and the prediction league that I WILL BE WINNING THIS SEASON. Any bets on that???
I was an ever present reader of the BBC606 however I never posted on there for certain reasons, I used to enjoy seeing people's posts however after a while it just kind of seemed to be a lot of WUMS on there. I used to read it just for extra news on the club and now that some of the websites have dried up I decided to make my appearance on here. There was a short period of time where I commented on the KentOnline website but would get so wound up by one poster in particular that I gave up hope trying to reason with the nubnub that I thought I would come onto a more sophisticated forum where I can have decent club related conversations.
At 6.51am this morning gavin reports that Gazza had signed for Southampton. In under three hours despite much speculation it is then official and the link is posted at 9.12am. Thanks to the loyalty of everyone on not606 this can happen. Why go any where else when you can read it here first and post freely!
Oh come on brb, we all know that this is a tin-pot message board frequented by the dregs of society, lets not try to over sell ourselves
I know the feeling. Been a Gills fan for something like 38 years, enjoy conversing with ALL Gills fans. For the first time ever, it appears that I have been completely banned from an alternative Gills site. Although received no confirmation to my requests. Is it a permanent ban or a temporary ban or is it even a ban I don't know. No matter how good or professional any site maybe, I would question and challenge any one person alone that has the power to ban a Gills fan permanent if that the case maybe. I believe in freedom of speech, but I believe we should also have the right to comment on freedom of speech. I have been afforded no such privilege.
Let me guess is the site that blocked you an anagram of Gills356?! Over there you must obey the dear leader. He always is the first with the news don't you know! As long as that news is UFC....
I'm a recent sign-on. Not sure how I first found this site, probably a link from another gills forum. I reckon all the various gills sites compliment eachother. There are very 'regulated' ones, a very 'un-regulated' shall we say one, and a few in-between like this one. Always get decent posts on here, and the lack of personal abuse is very welcome. I think we Gills fans are pretty lucky that we have so much choice. At least 4 very frequently used forums for varying kinds of banter. I have often tried to search for other clubs forums in the lead up to us playing them. And a lot of L2 (and some L1) clubs have either no, or just 1 forum that has recent posts. Checking around the rest of L2 on the not606 boards, most of the clubs are not posting much at all.
