    Desperately (IMO) need another CB.

Cahill and Samba still available with one going to Arsenal with almost complete certainty. My guess is Cahill, although all the speculation has been surrounding Samba.

If it is Cahill to the Gooners, why not do everything in our power to get Samba? ManU don't need him now, certainly Liverpool have other more pressing targets. Tottenham and City? Don't see it. Everton, no way.

That would make us his best option, and he would be the rock of the back 4 from day one.

Think set pieces: Larsson delivering, Samba defending. Quite a few points would be gained there alone.

Love to have N'Zogbia and all the other targets bandied about, but for me, Samba should top the list.

Samba would be my first choice.

I just think he fancies a bigger move, so i say Roger Johnson is the man.

No offense but I think Samba has set his goals higher! After being linked with the Gunners it's a bit of a drop to sign for Sunderland don't you think? However he is worth a punt hopefully you will get him. Think you should give Onuoha a call seeing how low down the pecking order he is at City. Also, Bougherra from Ranger would be a clever signing.

Agree he's set his sights higher...but if the Arsenal move falls apart, where does he go? The point of the post.

Options might be limited if Spurs or Liverpool don't get involved.

With the OP here we should be moving heaven and earth to get this bloke in he is exactly what we need and a leader as a bonus, freeing up Catts to play the way he was before he was lumbered with the armband.

He's awesome just too expensive for us I think.

I'd try and get johnny Evans back, cheaper and will be just as good eventually.

So you reckon we need a new captain mate?

A strong c/b would be a decent choice for one...

Johnson or Samba would make great captains.

All the more reason to sign one!

Yes I do mate, Catts is not the same player with the armband weighing him down. Nothing against Catts but he is not a leader in my opinion let him off the leash and playing the way we know he can.

I would love Samba but I can't see it happening. I would like to see Evans back. Anyone but Brown.

I reckon we couldn't afford Samba's wages which is why we aren't linked with him in any way.
