It would be a great experiment. No doubt it would be a real challenge, for example when there has been a controversial end to the game, but if cascaded down the football hierarchy it could be a better way of installing the respect campaign. Then if there was a Suarez / Evra or Terry / Ferdinand situation, the managers could take care of it by a sneaky substitution on 89 minutes! If only football was this easy heh!?
Why not just allow the players to shake hands with the opponents they respect after the game. Handshakes mean nothing when you are forced to do it.
Most players & officials perform this act anyways at the end of the game, but still provides the opportunity for Evra to avoid Suarez and likewise for Anton with Terry & Cole.
They do it in the Japan Football League. It's required that the players line back up and do it like they do in Rugby. In fact, after every game, the players usually go to their fans and clap to each other - AFTER EVERY GAME. It's a show of respect and gratitude - for the game, for the fans, for each other.
