He priority at the moment appears to be a centre back and packing the midfield out with a lot more quality options than we had last year. However last seasons glaringly obvious weak spot and area for opponents to target was the left back position. Figueroa was terrible last year. Apathetic, lethargic and and outright liability who caused so many goals or fouls. I would have thought this after Livermore would have been a priority but but the looks of it, it isn't. With Livermore, Snodgrass, Dawson and Ince been more desirable at this moment. I understand we have Joe Dudgeon to return bit what is to say he will be any good. He's hardly played for the club and has been out of action for years and when he did play it was at Championship level and he may never recover from his injury. Other than that we have Brady who can play as a complete wing back but again injuries have effected him and it isn't his strongest position. Obviously there ins plenty of time yet but I would be very concerned if we didn't strengthen in that position. From a pure fantasy point of view. Who would you like to see us sign at left back.
We are in for a left back... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Husband_(footballer) We've also been linked with Ryan Bertrand and Danny Rose.
Can anyone see us using Brady at left back ? . Think Fergie used him in that position a few times at united
Been linked with a fair few left backs, and lots of time left til the season starts. Out fo the lads we've been linked with i'd be delighted with Rose or Bertrand, think Bertrand would come cheaper as he has less PL experience tho so i'll say him
Come on Andy, you're usually pretty level headed, it was an outrageous dive and you know it. It's not even like you needed the points either which makes it even worse!
He defintely did play a few games at left back but seemed a little naive defensively. He seemed better suited to the wing back role but having played that position quite a bit more it will have no doubt improved his defensive awareness. Although personally I do like to see him deployed in a more attacking role and think he's quite capable of playing as a secondary striker if needs must.
Wing back is the same as a left back, just that a wing back has the licence, and is encouraged, to go forward. For example, we play 4-4-2 with wing backs but our 2 central midfielders play deep to protect the back four. Like this; GK CB CB WB CDM CDM WB RW -------------LW ST ST
We did need the points. To not reach 100 would have been gutting. He didn't dive, notice how none of the Doncaster players reacted? Husband stuck his foot out and Mahrez's standing foot stood on top of it, causing him to lose balance as he was running full pelt. Having watched us play 3-5-2 for two years, I can say that a wb is not like a normal left back. There's far less defensive duty, they sit higher up the pitch and the defending they do is different. An ordinary left back will usually be deep having players running at them, and they will have to make a lot more standing tackles and stop attackers getting themselves/the ball into the box - both are things Brady isn't very good at. With wing backs being placed higher up the pitch their contribution in defence is more to cover the space behind them and make sure no one gets in to it, which Brady is just fine at doing as he's faster than 9/10 players anyway, they very rarely find themselves positioned at the edge of the box with a winger running at them and having to either make a standing tackle or block their path. Not the best explanation but I know what I mean.
If we're talking about diving then; https://vine.co/v/MuFIqJ39Xd7 http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24184991 https://uk.eurosport.yahoo.com/news/premier-league-matchpack-fulham-v-hull-city-045207002--sow.html
It's a dive by any account and he wasn't running full pelt either. If he'd tripped up he wouldn't gracefully slide down to the floor, he'd stumble a few steps at least before hitting the deck if he didn't manage to regain his balance. You'd already won the league, 100 points or not, and now a club and it's fans have to face relegation at the hands of a cheat. It's pathetic and I'd be embarrassed of him if I was a leicester fan.
