3 Contenders RVP - excellent until Xmas, dropped off since Bale - good til Xmas but not exceptional, last 2/3 months been awesome Suarez - Been exceptional..... ALL SEASON, not had a dip at ANY point, I can think a handful of games when he has been less than very good TBH, he was f**kin amazin last season too but without the goals
I don't see any argument unless RVP fires in a load of goals between now and the end of the season. Bale should be nowhere near this as he has only been exceptional over half of the season.
It is politically incorrect for Suarez to get poty, so he won't. Everyone knows he should win. But he won't. Honestly, yes he is picked on and vilified... but he brings it on himself by keep doing stupid things. I'm glad Suarez is ours despite his bad ideas... but honestly I wish it were Downing, Lucas or Sturridge... someone with a good head on their shoulders that was our standout brilliant player... not Suarez.
1. utd are how many points clear? I dropped mr rVP from my ff team for rooney honestly. but he IS going to get player of the year 2. bale? he's everyone favorite lick hole so he's in with a shout. 3. suarez is a cheating racist who nobody likes therefore he might get writers award but NEVER player of the yea ror players player.... no way. thats what the public and players will say anyway. ignore anything about actual performance here as giggs got this for being old so it goes by sentiment. I'm SURE its rvp.
Whether he deserves it or not, Suarez won't win it because of non-football stuff. PS...plus only Liverpool fans will vote for him
Don't they start the PoTY the year voting in like early March though? As much as I dislike Saurez, can't really argue with him getting or deserving PoTY.
Mata woud get my vote, strikers are paid to and expected to score goals, it is the total contribution to the teams performance you should look at and Mata has been the standout performer this season.
Newcastle fan here. Suarez would probably be my vote for it and i can't see him being ignored entirely. I think RvP will be up there as despite what you may think of him he has in my view been the difference between United this year and United last year (and i think if he'd gone to City they may well be winning the league). Honorable mentions to Benteke (though he has been hit and miss he generally been very good and has a terrible team behind him), Mata, Bale (he tore us apart and a few other teams as well, hes the best player we've come up against this year with Suarez second - though Suarez was the only player all season to make Colo look poor) and finally Mignolet (looks a very good goalkeeper).
This in general about the POTY award. It seems to have got more coverage than ever this year with the likes of Gerrard, Rodgers and Enrique on some sort of a campaign to get Suarez nominated.
Suarez should get it if it was based on football but its cleary not as Kyle Walker got young player of the year in this last year ahead of Aguero Kyle Walker is a can of piss.
POTY has fk all to do with a team's position in the league I would think, it is about how good the player has been this season and none have been better than Suarez. For me RvP is 3rd or 4th best I see the BEEB are stoking up support for Bale with a few articles here and there, they definitely don't want Suarez to win it
Are you talking about the PFA player of the year award here? If so, it's voted for by the players alone, so I wouldn't hold your breath like...
shouldn't be a popularity contest, should be judged on ability and impact on the league. opinions vary on Michael Jackson because of his misdemeanors or alleged anyway, but if you judged him on his music for a music award, like people should with Luis and his football ie football awards, both are geniuses, and a joy to watch and listen to. just hope whoever wins, it is not for political reasons and is fair for all who are voted for.
Whichever way you cut it, the fact that he's a snide will work against him. As I doubt Sylvain Distin, Kevin Mirallas, Jack Rodwell or Patrice Evra would vote for him, even if he was the absolute stand out player of the season. You reap what you sow.
Rodwell and Evra are pretty obvious they wouldn't vote for him anyway, and isn't Distin an ex Blue (thought he was, may be wrong) club loyalty will happen anyway regardless of player. if it was like that Agger wouldn't vote for Bale for the simple fact the cheating **** got him booked when he didn't even touch him. if it is voted for on ability may the best person win, but if someone doesn't vote for a player just because they don't like them well that is pretty sad to be honest. how many of us work with people we don't like? bet quite a few lol but if they was the best person to vote for an award and good at their job, they should get the vote, simple as. should be voted on ability and impact on league, not if you do or don't like someone.
Wait, Everton & Man Utd players aren't going to vote for him? That is just disastrous and so unexpected. I'm sure they'd be voting for him if he'd behaved himself a little better
He's sewed some fantastic football and bags of goals. More than the magical RvP playing for the league leaders, but it is a popularity contest as Rooney won it scoring over 10 penos, 16 or something like that and less goals in the league than Drogba who was far better that year and finished top scorer, it's a nothing award and I'd rather he was the way he was than to diminish his play to win a popularity contest. I do find it fktarded that many seem to judge the guy on what he does on the pitch alone. I guess he could donate his liver to fergie but as long as he is a villain on the pitch that's the be all and end all Player votes mean nothing anyways, it's like the Eurovision voting
