Why? It's a friendly, ffs. If he's injured for the derby, we should withdraw all our

Fair play - he wants to play for England however it's not as if Gerrard is being forced to take this injections. He's a grown man at the end of the day and it's own decision to go through with it.

If it was a competitive match Jimmy, yes. But it's not. Hodgson shouldn't give him a choice in it. Utter nonsense - Gerrard is too old to be playing two games a week at the best of times, but when it's unnecessary? Would never happen with a player from that crowd up the M62 for a WC qualifier, let alone a friendly. Nuts.

Don't get me wrong - I think both parties are in the wrong. There is no need for an injection for such a game. But Gerrard is the one who will ultimately say 'Yes, I want to have it so I can play'.

trouble is being captain for both club and country he thinks he is setting an example, he is too old for that ****e though, and should take note of the bull excuses that come out for certain fecking teams players to withdraw.

Liverpool come first, not the fecking national ****stain team.

RVP won't even play with a sore toe. Although I don't think we need Gerrard as much as Man Utd need RVP, it's still just a friendly so he should sack England off. The Everton game is a better rivalry anyway.

I've checked with my mate, Donga. He will have been asked if he'll play and he's said he wants to. You can't expect Hodgson to leave his captain out without asking him the question. That wouldn't go down very well, would it?

Against crap teams Gerrard can be hugely influencial still.

Against good teams he tends to be anonymous now.

I hope tobes isn't around to see me say this but... Everton are pretty decent at the moment... we're probably better off without him.

  10. I reckon he'll call it a day with England after the summer anyway.

Actually, in his book he said he wanted to retired from football all together once he reached 33/34 <yikes>

Hodgesons a twat simply because Gerrard is a cert pick when fit so he should be looking at the alternatives.

But as to responsibility? Totally on Gerrard. He's (with team mates) made sure his country qualified for the big tournament. Good job done.

Is he doing the same here for the club that pays him? Risking weeks of injury in a meaningless game before arguably the most season defining month of the league for us so far. If he's so vital as some seem to think he is why would the "big player" risk missing 4 of the biggest games in the first half of the league leading to the club possibly missing out again on the big tournament we so desperately want?

Well if he gets injured for a few weeks because of this I'd hope we go buy someone that fits the rest of our young midfield and stop propping him up & sucking him off when he plays like a king against the worst team in the league. Utterly Selfish.

i hope we get someone for his position any way Frank,

he has and will always be a great servant to this magnificent club, but, and i hope i am wrong, its like he thinks he is untouchable, get a younger hungrier player in, then he can decide if its the bullshit he wants for the national team or his club comes first.

hopefully he makes the right decision lol.

If Gerrard does go down our CM positions are Lucas, Hendo, Allen........... just not enough there, not dynamic enough and only one of those can play a bit more defensive minded. An area we really need to look into and get at least one person of real quality.

I agree - we should be looking for his replacement anyway and I'm sure we are.

He is a club legend and was a world class player. He has a high level of influence at the club - not sure it it's 100% true but I believe both he and Carra had a hand in getting rid of Rafa and bringing Roy in.

Not sure if this was true, but this was the point at which I lost a bit of respect for the pair.

hmmmmm on the fence on this one, think he is more of an AM/Wide player that can play in the CM. I want someone who is 100% a ball playing, box to box CM.

Really wish him and Illori would go on loan to a prem team in January. Just want them to get minutes and not stall.

  20. Ilori is a good shout but Alberto depends on what the incomings are. I know he's hardly been used but it would leave us short in squad numbers ATM.
