    Hi all

Reading through the gossip columns, as most of us do, every singe one of our key players seem to linked away. Why is this not the same with Pool who have not made the champs lge in the past two years?

Prime example; Mirror: Bale will leave if Modric leaves
SSN: Pool to bid £15m for Lennon

Lennon being linked is a first this summer as far as i am aware, that brings Bale, Modric, Sandro and Lennon being linked away surely the four players at the end of the season most likely not to leave.

I know I'm biased but it seems as if the media wish us to fall back to mid table mediocrity. Tabloids seem to be very northern bias!

The media love the Big 4 and hate Spurs

It is well known and only Big 4 fans deny it

The idea is that clubs like Chelsea, United, 'Pool and Arsenal are so big that no player in his right mind would want to leave them (despite the fact that Arsenal currently have about 5 players who want out), but that we are nothing more than a feeder club. This is despite the fact that we have never willing sold any of our star players, and the last time it happened turned into a very bitter affair at the end of which we took United for one of largest fees ever paid (at the time).

I agree with the OP that the media stance over 'Pool is very curious. Despite the fact that, even with he (very dull yet costly) signings they've made recently they still look utter pants, and no where near able to challenge the top 5 clubs, the papers treat it all as nothing more than a mere blip. It's as though they believe that 'Pool is still a big club. It's utterly laughable!

On the other hand, it's not surprising that the clubs above us (and 'Pool) are desperate to get their hands on our players, or to unsettle us, because they know just how strong we are and how much of a threat we pose to them.

Liverpool's players aren't linked with moves, bar Raul Mereiles, because they pay out massive wages and the whole "I want to play Champions League football" thing is just a smokescreen.
What players really mean is that they want to be paid large amounts of money and they get that from the Scousers.
Glen Johnson's supposedly on £120k pw, for example and their overall wage bill was £121m pa compared to our £67m, at last count.

The idea that we'd sell Lennon for £15m is pretty laughable anyway, but to the club that just paid more than that for Jordan Henderson and over twice that for Andy Carroll is just ridiculous.

I wouldn't say that they necessarily have a northern bias. However, there certainly appears to be an anti-Spurs bias. Why, I couldn't say, you'd have to ask the ****wits who write the garbage. As has been pointed out, it's not just an attempt to maintain the status quo, there seems to be a pro L'pool bias, as well.

This is nothing more than lazy hack journalism.

Some red-top hack has noted that United have just signed a fast, pacy right-sided winger, and he's said to himself, "Hello! Liverpool is the biggest rival of United, and they must be concerned about this, so I bet they want to sign a fast, pacy right-sided winger. Who might fit the bill? Bingo! Lennon, who plies his trade at Spurs! He'll do! Spurs are only a feeder club, so it'll be a piece of cake for a big club like 'Pool to simply nip in and take the player off them. Yes, that's my story right there!"

I guarantee, that's how it happens. Forget the fact that United now look upon 'Pool as very weak opponents, and that 'Pool's nearest natural rivals are probably Stoke or Bolton. None of that seems to matter.

    You've got to laugh.

Liverpool are 10/1 to win the PL, we are 50/1.

Even the bookmakers love Liverpool and hate us.

I agree about the journalism note, but i think the days of the being anyone's feeder club are over.
These journo's think that any Spurs player is fair game ,but don't you dare mention the same thoughts at the "Big 4"

Odds with the bookies are created by the market though, CH.
Lots of Scousers will lump on Liverpool to win the league every year, regardless of their odds, so their odds are naturally much shorter than ours have to be.

That's true. There are plenty of Scousers out there with more of somebody elses' money, than brains. So, it's far easier for them to waste it on ridiculous bets, than it is for other supporters.

Or rather you're our mugs. Paying nearly £50mill on Berbatov and Carrick is looking like a fine investment, isn't it?

Which one of Manyoo's first XI players have been linked with a move in this window, Lidls?
Ryan Giggs making a move on one of his relative's wives doesn't count, by the way.

**** off. We get this loads worse with Fabregas. Liverpool had it with Torres and Man u had it with Ronaldo. You are in love with your self-proclaimed status as 'unloved outsiders' when if you opened your eyes you would see that is obviously not the case. I am not blind to see that some arsenal supporters do this too but i still tell them what I think.

Where was this anti-spurs bias when you were doing well in the champions league and the papers loved you for it? The fact is you are doing worse now and due to the larger amount of media attention you now receive people point that out more often. Moreover you have made no major investments unlike Liverpool and your best player has said he wants to go to Chelsea, what do you expect, for the media to ignore all this? Spurs are not alone in having boring, regenerated, transfer speculation about their players, it happens with all teams with good players. Get used to it.

I'll assume Robin Van "Fiberglass" that you're either American, or illiterate. I disagree with you. It always seems to be our star players that are the target of these wildly speculative articles written by talentless hacks. In your case, yes, there have been many articles about Fibreglass, but that's nothing new - the whole world knows he wants to go home. However, I don't see rubbish being printed about Walcott, or Van Persie, nothing recently about Nasri.
It seems, however, that these cretins think that Spurs players are fair game for their continual, unsettling, groundless claims.

I'm sorry Lidls, but most of those players aren't in your first XI and those that are have had absolutely minor interest from the likes of Goal.com and CaughtOffside, not a daily report in the Daily Fail about which club they're joining.
    There's absolutely no comparison.

As for the Goon's claims about us being loved by the papers, that's simply ridiculous.
The papers reported us beating the Milanese teams.
    So what?
What did you expect them to do, say we'd lost?
