Four Nil up at half time and for the majority of the first and second half we struggled to break into a chant on more than one occasion. What happened to the south stand east stand banter? what about the whole of the east stand singing. The only fans singing were the two closest to the away and everyone else just sat in silence. What can be done to reignite that crowd?
That's not the point though, the atmosphere needs to be great across the majority of the east stand not just two sections, and trust me the atmosphere still wasn't that great from E1-E3 not a scratch on what it use to be.
The atmosphere was great in the first half full stop. City took there feet off the gas somewhat in the 2nd and so did the crowd as the game became a stroll in the sun. Even i had my thoughts on tuesdays game and more importantly Nigel Pearsons Farewell game on sunday. For the record its the same at all grounds most of the time. 99% of all home crowds aree silent unless something is happening. Blame it on stadiums being all seater. Hence why i prefer away games now. I stand like many others do.
Pre Pearson, we never had that problem, the ground was rocking, and it was in the Prem also, I understand that it's dropping off now but I don't see why it can't pick up when the teams play like that.
It funny how 800-2000 away fans can generate a much louder support than 15-20,000 @ the KC can. Its the same all over these days.
Away fans are always louder but in terms of the KC, if the team carry on playing like that, the crowd will be rocking every week.
If you want atmosphere go in E1, simple. For some strange reason the rest of the stadium are scared to sing, apart from E1/2 the only time anyone else joins in is when we score and that's standing up clapping for 10 seconds then sitting back down again.
Better football more shots at goal increase the atmosphere, i think some fans when sat in a quiet area want to shout and indeed sing but find if you have a few around you who sit quiet then they feel an idiot by opening there mouths. I thought on Saturday seen has though it was our lowest crowd of the season the fans responded to a great display by getting behind the team. hopefully continued good football with more shots will get the crowds back and behind the team
But that's the case at every football ground. There's always one main area, usually near the away fans, who sing. Getting the whole ground singing would be almost unique in English football. Good post Tickler. I thought it was a lot better this week, especially considering no bugger turns up any more. The all-seater thing is spot on, modern stadia totally kill the atmosphere and particularly split tiers. If we ever extend the East stand to mirror the West we'll have a much bigger problem with atmosphere, because for some reason split tiers in a stand just stop people singing.
