Having been smacked hard with the banhammer on ja606 I'm now posting on Not606, expecting a better reply.

It seems like the subject has become taboo, and to question it is wrong. Now Suarez was found, by the powers that be, guilty of directing racist slurs at Evra and therefore it's not wrong to call him a racist.

Furthermore, it's not wrong to state that Liverpool's continued refusal to condemn what he did facilitates racism in a game so desperately trying to stamp it out. The fans should recognise this too or they themselves are supporting a racist who feels he can abuse players on the pitch.

It's a hugely important issue. Probably the most important in football at the current time. And the fact that I've got banned for speaking out AGAINST racism on ja606 has left me absolutely fuming. It's not right.

I'm hoping my not606-ers are more able to distinguish right from wrong than the ja606 admins.

Then why was he handed an 8 match ban and fined £40,000?
    An 8-match is huge.
Suárez "damaged the image of English football around the world".

The FA, while finding Evra to be a credible witness, declared that Suárez's evidence was unreliable and inconsistent with the video footage. According to Evra's testimony, Suárez said in Spanish that he had earlier kicked Evra "because you are black", said "I don't speak to blacks" and used the word "negro" five times in total as they argued. Suárez had claimed that his use of the word 'negro' to address Evra was conciliatory and friendly, but the FA rejected this claim as being "unsustainable and simply incredible given that the players were engaged in an acrimonious argument."
As the conversation between Suárez and Evra took place in Spanish, linguistic experts were called in to help the panel with the meaning of the phrases. The panel concluded that "Suarez's use of the term [negro] was not intended as an attempt at conciliation or to establish rapport; neither was it meant in a conciliatory and friendly way." Suárez was also warned that two similar offences in the future could lead to "a permanent suspension".

This suggests that the FA were pretty clear on their conclusion.

The powers that be, just like a criminal court, decided on the facts of the case and their judgement must be the basis of our conclusions. Kicking a man because he is black is racism. Pure and simple.

I never had any bad feelings towards Liverpool until this occurred. Since then I've found them more and more repulsive.

I understand your point and I can see why you have to be careful. I'll henceforce use the codewords "offensive", "alleged" and so forth much like the papers do.

As long as you don't post something that can be deemed to be libelous i have no problem with you discussing the issue.Don't forget people have been arrested for what they've posted on the internet <ok>

Don't get me started on the freedom of the internet haha. I think it should nearly completely lawless without restrictions on what you are allowed to say about people.

But what are your views on the way Liverpool FC handled the whole incident?

It seem the FA were keen to move on the alleged racism of a Foreign National. It appears The FA are no more concerned by racism than UEFA, as it on one hand strips John Terry of the England Captaincy, yet, allows the same individual to represent England. Apparently Capello resigned over the FA's conciliatory Public Relations gesture. Nobody takes racism that seriously, well, certainly not anyone with power to enforce policy!

You have a good point there. It does seem odd that they didn't involve themselves so much with the Terry issue but I suspect that the provision of much clearer evidence meant that it is now a matter for the court and therefore Terry has to be treated as innocent until proven guilty, although we've all see the footage.

In Terry's case discussion could be seen as unfair prior to trial.

There was more than enough discussion re- Liverpool at the time - now time to drop it.

The problem with Liverpool fans is they never see the error in their ways or the club's, they are far too touchy. Mention anything to do with their club and watch them spit fire <laugh>

    Bloody idiots.

Racism shouldn't be taboo. Suarez used racist terms but you can't prove somebody is racist just because they used a racist term, I'm pretty sure we all have done the same at some point. The same goes for Terry - I don't think he called Ferdinand what is claimed but even if he did, from his behaviour around his black team mates I can't see him being a racist. The FA would like it swept under the carpet and UEFA and FIFA would prefer it would just go away, but it won't.

I think some kudos must go to the FA for dishing out the penalty they did to Suarez, to me that does show they are at least serious about it, unlike FIFA/UEFA who have more important things to worry about that are blighting the game, like Bendtner's underwear !!

I might have missed a meeting or 3, but, The FA appeared to side step the issue all together. I don't look to The FA for guidance or to actually care, just seems odd that it is ever willing to point the finger or complain to FIFA/ UEFA if one of it's player's is racially abused, yet is strangely unsure of itself when the same happens in house!

While I don't agree in any capacity with what he said. But I have said it before and will say it again there is a clear distinction to be made between using a racist term and being a racist. However Liverpool handled the situation like proper ******s they should have come out stating the use of racist terminology is not approved by the club - Publically condemned him for using it and fined him for it to show the public they mean business. While giving him whatever reassurances they wanted to in private if they needed to. But to publically defend him is ****ing ******ed botht morally and as a business.

That all being said I do want to slap parents and moralists who go around spouting things like footballers are role models and should be exemplary in there behavior. Are you bloody kidding me these guys predominately come from low class areas and in most cases have sacrificed an education for their footballing careers and finding success at such a young age with such high levels of wealth. Not to mention the Alpha Male dominance bullshit/ confidence required with being a professional sportsman means they turn into right tards. Not to mention having their whims pampered too by clubs, agents, women etc. They are spoilt rich kids who don't know any better.

Hell I considered my-self a level headed individual but if you chucked 20k a week at me when I was 18 not to mention the fme, the money, the pampering, the attention I can guarrentee you it would take a miracle for me not to turn out a right knobber. Kids role models should be parents, teachers, leaders but this ******ed celebrity culture which is fostered by the media and "social consciousnesses" has ****ed it all up. I would considered my self a failure as a parent if my kids looked up to people like Rooney, Rio, Wilshere, Gerrard as role Models (apart from there talent at kicking a football)

Could you please explain to me what this distinction is? - Seems to me it's like somebody who collects and distributes kids porn on the internet is not a peadophile. What is the definition of a racist if it is not someone who says racist things?

I hate it when people make extreme comparisms irrelevant to the scenario to make a point. By the same token you ever picked money you found lying on the street are you know a thief, you ever made or laughed to a prejudiced joke do you know hate that group. I am not saying he is a racist or not I don't know him so I would rather not taint him with that brush. But from a comment made in one game I am not going to say he is. Is what he said wrong? Yes! Is he an idiot? Yes! Should he have been punished? Yes! Is he a racist? I don't know

Don't get me wrong if keeps showing signs of it yes punish him and ban him he'll kick him out. But understand the distinction
