    Hello Gasheads

The title says it all really. I haven't come to gloat (there isn't anything to gloat about)

Bristol is **** for football despite Landsdownes and Dunsfords money and it's a disgrace.

I am out of ideas - you?

    bcfcredandwhite <ok>

if only i had an answer for you. i just dont know. its shocking though.

i read somewhere on our OS forum (someones opinion) that citys form dipped as soon as you had trouble with the ashton vale stadium. under ward we been great up to where we now had problems with our stadium and been shocking since. just their theory. stadiums issues bred the negativity throughout the club.

another theory could be the fact that were in the west country. a lot of smaller clubs closer to bigger clubs get players on loan from the bigger clubs. we dont have any bigger clubs by us unless you look across the bridge at cardiff/swansea. yeovil has shown getting help from a big club (spurs) that you can progress. they are now the best south west club <yikes> swindon have a few on loan from spurs i think and they are doing alright too. just another theory.

like i said, i have no idea but im getting to the point where 4 years of utter crap has taken its toll and i dont think i even care anymore. if we lose saturday i think i be like "oh well".

It's horrible to say it, but I almost don't care anymore at times. I certainly react to defeats a lot differently to say, 5 years ago when I would leave the Mem totally dejected.

I've got a solution to the stadium matters and lots are not going to like this one bit.

We sell our ground to Sainsbury's, the Rugby returns to the Mem and BOTH clubs move to the UWE stadium.

It's simple when you think about it, we have the funding you're missing. The ground gets used more often creating more revenue.

But it won't happen so it was a nice dream.

a lot of the problem for both Bristol teams are simple, a total lack of support from the Bristol councils over the last 20yrs.... if not more..

The Bristol councils have stopped many stadium ideas over the years and due to there lack of ambition and trying score browney points either with LAB or Con supporters or more recently the Greens!!

If you look anywhere else around the country no other council has behaved in such a negative way towards sports facility's... Its truly amazing, with the size of Bristol that we are so far behind many other cities!

This constant battle trying to secure a modern stadium for both teams has had a major impact! the benefits of having a new stadium many years ago would have transformed both teams by now!
I would go far as to say that atleast one of our teams would be playing in the Premier by now!!

So before we all go looking at sacking both managers and crying for the board to walk, maybe we should all be looking at the real problem! The Great Bristol Councils for all there hard work over the years destroying there local football teams...:emoticon-0137-clapp:emoticon-0137-clapp

    I reckon it's obvious!

There's a rule which says 'Divide and Conquer'

Lets stop all the bickering between the few Bristol football fans that we have for both teams.

Amalgamate the clubs and have one team we can all be proud of!!

Probably for the first time I agree with every single word ROD.

The proverbial visitor from outer space would be aghast that two tiddly clubs like ours
are not sharing a nice tidy ground on alternate weekends. Bluddy obvious to me!

Good point ROD and 49, but one club means ;one ground; one set of administration; one set of coaching staff..........that's even more financially sound.

I am starting to believe a Team Bristol would be a better idea than two seperate sides in all. We could combine the fanbase and have 20 odd thousand there a week, in a shared stadium of decent size, and challanging for prem football with a bit of luck. Don't think either of our sides will ever go on to great success, especially now a days

Crikey we are all depressed if we start talking about a "Bristol United" team!!

Of course financially it does make sense in the long run, but too much history for it to ever happen - and we would miss all the banter wouldn't we?

I don't think we know a good thing when we see it to be honest.

Both clubs have sent some really good managers and players packing and we're a right miserable lot in general.

If managers and players feel loved and appreciated, their confidence grows and they give back in spades. Unfortunately there's a hard core or misrable glass half empty types in both camps who really test the resolve of the best players and managers.

also people want instant success. the season that both sides went up gave both sides new fans who automatically wanted rome built in a day.
