    Whats up with Basso?

On the bench Saturday and not playing tonight !!!

Gulasci is shi*te, miles prefer Basso !!!

The whole team look a lot more comfortable with Basso between the sticks.

    Evening tigers <ok>

He's not playing because he beat Barmby at poker and cleared him out.

If thats the case, why put him on the bench, if a player is fot enough for the bench, start him.

Look at results since Gulasci back in goal, need I say anymore !!!

3 goals shipped in 15 mins on Saturday. Gulasci does not command his area or put confidence in his defenders.

He's perfectly fit, Barmby said he won't play him until Basso gives him the chance to win his money back.

He's got tendonitis and probably won't ever be fully fit again from what I've heard.

Yeah it really is, just think about it, gap in defence, plenty of space for opposition players to be onside...

I'm curious as to how Chester getting beaten in the air and on the stretch by a player about 6 inches taller than him is the fault of the keeper on Saturday? Similarly the 3rd goal where the striker got clean through unchallenged due to an offside player heading off the defender's run to be one on one, not really the keeper's fault there was a goal, it's only us that has strikers (and Koren is surprisingly bad at them as well) incapable of finishing those chances off so consistently.

And he's on the bench despite not being fit because he's a goalkeeper, an outfield player wouldn't be. If Oxley isn't out on loan or injured I'd suggest that Basso being on the bench shows how little Oxley is rated by the management as cover.

Not the biggest fan of Gulacsi but thought he did pretty well on Saturday and was not at fault for any of the goals and by the sound of it tonight wasn't at fault either for the two goals. He was also ok at Derby.

Either way we've got an up and coming rookie of a goalkeeper (Myhill was that type of keeper but was lucky enough to ply his trade with us in the lower leagues) and a 36 year old with dodgy knees.

    Get Mannone when he's available.

for the 1st goal last night, gulasci made a very good save, then our defenders stood like statues while there striker, picked up the rebound and put it in...
the 2nd goal was a good cross, and there striker headed in , while our centrel defenders marked thin air, it will be gulascis fault somehow again tho.

What about the previous 75 minutes without conceding a goal? I'm not his biggest fan but that's a ridiculous way of arguing that he's poor.

The problem is, that with Gulasci in goal, we've shipped an average of two goals per game.

With Basso in goal, it's less than a goal a game(Basso has let in half the goals that Gulasci has and he's played a third more games).

I appreciate that some think he's getting slagged for no reason, but considering we had one of the best defensive records in the league before he was playing and one of the worst since he's been playing, with the same back four in front of both, I'd say it's definitely an issue. The back four simply don't trust him.

I agree, and this is a much better analysis of the situation! Also, I don't think it's lack of ability I think it's primarily down to lack of communication with those in front of him.

another reason could be the new formation, as good as stewart is going forward he offers no protection. and in the 2nd half last night dudgeon got ran ragged.

I sdon't agree with this either. Since Stewart came back everyone wants to talk about him and Brady not offering cover but who were we playing on the wing before that? Koren? Pusic? Devitt? None of them offer defensive cover and I'd say Garcia aside, Stewart and Brady have probably helped out with defending the most of our wingers, Brady has gone off the boil lately of course and Stewart isn't fully fit but I've seen both of them bust a gut to get back and defend in the past.

OLM is right, even if Gulacsi isn't personally to blame for goals his presence in the team has unsettled the defence- like others on here I hope we get Mannone in as he has no chance of getting in Arsenals team and we know he likes it here

    Courtesy of TOP on CI....

Ignoring the 4 minutes Gulacsi played against Cardiff, we've taken 21 points from Basso's 11 starts and 6 points from Gulasci's 8 starts.

It takes Gulasci just under an hour to concede each goal. It takes Basso more than two hours.
