There are reports that Spurs have thrown their hat into the ring and are prepared to outbid us be quite some margin for Juan Mata. If Arsene wants him, why not firm up details and it's a case of hands off everyone. If we don't want him then simply say so. If we should dither then, well, you know the dangers. Why is a small word but not when it comes to Arsene. As I've said often, I must stop reading NewsNow....
Wenger said that Mata is a player that he likes, but that doesn't mean that he will buy him. Personally I'd like to see him come to Arsenal and I'd be a bit gutted if he signs for the spuds
Redknapp is an idiot if Spurs are seriously in for Mata. Everybody can see that they are overcrowded in midfield and need strikers. What are they gonna play next season, 4-6-0?
Soccernet reports the following - 13.38: Interesting tweets from Guillem Balague who says Arsenal agreed a fee for Juan Mata but didn't want to stump up the cash - around €23 million - before they had agreed a deal with Barcelona for Cesc Fabregas. Now, he claims, the clause to sign Mata for that price has expired and his new value is closer to €60 million. Very interesting to note, how stupid this could be if true.
Stupidity is a word that I am beginning to associate more with the management's way of thinking. Still I'm willing to accept the above which I have also read elsewhere as being unconfirmed. It was said that the lower-priced clause expired on the 31 July and Arsenal needed to pay that sum then. Once pass that date, the price for Mata reverts to 60mil Euros with at least 30mil required for an agreement. Guess we'll have to wait and see. What I cannot fathom is that at this late stage Arsene is supposedly still talking about Cesc and Nasri staying. I would have thought the smart money would be to let them go. For a number of seasons now their presence has not taken the team to silverware so what makes Arsene think that in their current frame of mind, it will be any different?
In that aspect - look at Citeh (i know they're filthy rich) , got Kun Aguero tied up - a direct replacement for Tevez - even thou Carlos is not sold yet. Now they are in a better position to deal with Carlos. Why cannot you guys do something like this? How can you ever keep a guy who wants to play for another club as your captain?
Well Friend You'll know the saying ' if you snooze you lose ' same goes with stalling Apparently Arsene placed the Mata deal on hold until he could establish who was leaving the club. On the other hand he has been trying to persuade the two midfielders to stay. I mean the Spaniard and the Frenchman. Arsene also thinks that despite the existence of the contractual clause which ups the price of Mata if the original deal was not concluded by the 31 July, he can still get Mata for the initially agreed price of £18m. Frankly he is the manager. He should by now realise that the wantaways do not have their hearts at the Emirates. Best to get rid of them and get on with the business of winning trophies. He is such a ditherer.
All i know is our ability to land the players we were after has dramatically reduced since David Dean left the Club. I think we should offload Nasri, fight to keep Fabregas and bring in a couple of defenders.
Amen to that Mr Bear Anything upwards of 20m for someone who is only good for half a season sounds a great deal to me. As you know, like many of us I'm not at all impressed by Nasri's shenanigans. Cesc is a more difficult one. If he stays I don't think he should be captain but if he's not captain would he want to stay anyway? Not that the captaincy will necessarily make staying attractive to him. We definitely need the defenders. In the apparent absence of tactical input from the management, then a couple of defenders will inject a fresh outlook and approach to the back four. I think talking Pat Rice out of retirement was a mistake. Instead Arsene should have tried to bring in Patrick Viera or Dennis Bergkamp. Failing that he should promote Steve Bould to first team coach. My 2c Cheers
If the story about his release clause is true then it is too stupid for words. I think we should sell both Nasri and Fabregas and buy Pastore and Mata but I know that will never happen.
