As I've mentioned elsewhere, it's not so much the players, its the manager and the FA who can't cut it. To even consider appointing Roy was an admission of complete helplessness by the FA. What has he achieved? He managed very average teams. He then went to Liverpool and couldn't cut it so the FA in their wisdom appoint him to manage all the different type of personalities and egos of the England squad. England need a manager who can handle the personnel and massage the egos when needed. They also need a manager who can take the media pressure away from the team and work it to how he wants it, while also having a winning track record. There is only one manager who has the ability to do all this .................... enter, José Mourinho. There is no bigger drama queen than he ............... the old saying, " it takes one to know one" applies and that is half his selling point. The other is, he is a proven winner. He will only be a one term manager .......... World Cup to World Cup because he too has a burnout factor about him but he will get results. That is what England need. __________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ My other point is, why on earth was Hodgson's contract not written to expire at the end of the World Cup, based on the thought that if he didn't perform, there would be no need for him there after. Just plain dumb policies from the FA.
Not going tohappen lads because of those in charge. as England/Ireland/scotland & Wales we have 4 votes on any football decision. That gives those in charge more power and standing.... As team UK...we get one vote and our power is gone Like i said..never going to happen !
There ought to be enough talent within the pool of English footballers not to need a Team GB. With the exception of Bale, who would you call up from the other home countries?
He should stick to writing about business, it'll never happen. The fact FIFA have granted international status to Gibraltar shows that the game will be played by as many 'countries' as FIFA can 'create'. Don't be surprised to see a Vatican City team before too long. We're entering Monty Python territory here...
