We are lucky to get called anything by the BBC nationally as they pretend we don't exist most of the time!
Why does everyone on telly call a room a 'rum'? Is it like the latest southernisation nonsense or what? Someone pointed it out to me and I can't stop noticing it ever since, it's doing my tits in.
many people especially down south have never heard of the rugby team. why would they? they assume we are THE team in hull. and we are THE team in hull.
They'll get even more confused if they use soccerbase. http://www.soccerbase.com/teams/team.sd?team_id=1310&comp_id=2 Look at what your browser is called when you're on that page. In fairness to soccerbase, they've not intentionally done that. Every team has the City dropped from their short name that's used round the site, except obviously where there's two clubs, like Bristol and Manchester. When you click onto any teams page it then adds FC to the end of the short name. Newcastle are Newcastle FC, even AFC Bournemouth become Bournemouth FC, it's just with us there's coincidentally the rugby connection.
If you are not a fan then you wouldn't say the second part of the name. For example Stoke. I would always say stoke, however the fans always say Stoke City
we are lucky anyone calls us Hull. when i hear us mentioned by anyone it always sounds like.....""ULL"" does not anyone pronounce the H anymore ? its HULL not ULL.
My milwaaal mates always calls us Hull so do the west ham fans i keep in touch with who i met on holiday a few years ago.Non of them knew about our world famous egg chasers.
WEST HAM FANS AINT POSH. well not today. there game @ Peterboro is NOW OFF OFF OFF OFF....hahaha Come on you ULLLLLLLLLLLL win and back into the Top 6.
This. We ARE Hull to everyone else cos when a sports team of that name is referred to they think of City. Eff Cee are just inconsequential and irrelevant on a national stage.
^^^^^^^^This. Totally agree. The OP should be flattered when the national media refer to us simply as "Hull" as this means that they haven't even thought about needing to differentiate us from the egg chasers because, as other posters have said, no one outside of the M62 corridor has ever even heard of them. To everyone else in the world the word "Hull" referred to in a sporting context only makes them think (quite rightly) of the mighty Tigers.
It's so easy to write the correct name though , Hull City , 8 letters Hull City v Bristol City rather than Hull v Bristol City We have always been Hull City , quite worrying than some of our own fans now think we are simply 'Hull'
We are Hull though... I don't refer to Newcastle as Newcastle United, I don't refer to Stoke as Stoke City, because there's no need. Get the **** over it, there's no media conspiracy against us, honestly.
