Passed their ground on the train and it got me thinking. I thought how lucky I was that City were the nearest team to me when I was growing up, but I thought "What if it was like Goole or something?", genuinely don't know what I'd do. How low down in the divisions does your local team have to be that it's acceptable to support another one?
Respect to the fans of FC Wimbledon who are very close to returning to the football league. They chose NOT to travel to Milton Keynes!
TWF I have no idea where you live, but unless it's under the flyover, there's probably a club nearer to you than City. My nearest club is about 50 yards away and I support them too.
What a stupid post Errr why don't people from Bridlington support Brid Town, Errr why don't people from Beverly support.... Why don't I recheck my ignore list
What an ignorant response, I bet your a ****ing mummy's boy. People should support their local club, Those that don't are ****ers.
Theres a place in the North Yorks Moors called Cock End, shame TWF wasn't born there and could moan about the local team named in his honour.
Jesus Christ people chill the fook out. Perfectly reasonable question too. I think most people support their actual "local" local team but have another "proper" team, if that makes sense. Personally I can watch any 2 groups of 11 blokes / boys kicking a ball round a pitch, pick a side, and cheer them the hell on.
Goole lost a lot of support when the WRCFA decided to rob them of their correct name of Goole Town AFC.It would make sense for them to play on a Friday night which would bring more support in.
When I lived in Hornsea in the 80s I went to watch a couple of games out of interest.. I was most proud of my 7 year old nephew this xmas who plays for Long Riston juniors.. I asked him if he preferred City (we've taken him to a couple of matches), Man U (his Dad's preferred team) or Arsenal (a neighbour had bought him a flag) and he replied..." Long Riston cos I play for them.. I hope we're really good one day!" very sweet..
