You'd think that with some of his disasters, he would have lost the contract to design circuits ages ago. Maybe Bernie works like a council, contracts are decided by the lowest bidder, because it costs him less money that way. What's your take? Should F1 look elsewhere for a circuit design guru?

I think he designs them to Bernie's specification. So long as the paddock and corporate facilities are spiffy... who cares about the track? It's a mere second thought and an irritant.

Brundle even touched on it at Turkey. He said something like "They design these amazing facilities and then the pit lane..is more of an afterthought really isn't it? It's just a last-minute 90-degree left-hander."
I mean when I'm really bored and just feel like drawing, the first thing I'll just start drawing absent-mindedly is a race circuit. I've done it for a few years now and those absent-minded tracks are thousands times better than what Tilke does (excuse my modesty :D). They take inspiration from some of the old circuits, some of the greats and even some of Tilke's works. I've just made them better. <ok>

You should email them to Bernie with a price tag... Could be early retirement! Just don't forget some landing strips, spots for yachts and plenty of limousine spaces for the real F1 fans. ;)

Hahaha, and something crazy just for him like a golf course in the middle of the track. But it also has to be in somwhere that needs an F1 race like Cairo or Rio de Janiero, you know, somewhere that makes a lot of money, OOPS, I mean somewhere that's important to the the fans.... ;)

If you can convince the council to agree Onion, you could make a fantastic circuit around Cheadle and Ramshorn!

Whe i was a child, i used to draw racing tracks on large cardboard boxes, and race my toy cars around them. Some of those designs were incredible, even if i was about 8 years old.
