Because Gerrard is slow and Henderson has to cater for this.

Dunno, but it's a fact. Even opposition fans say it, and not always just to have a dig at Gerrard.

It is always to have a go at Gerrard. <ok>

It doesn't mean that they aren't right for the wrong reasons, though. Hendo does have to cover defensively for Gerrard, but that's the price we pay for Gerrard's passes, penalties, free-kicks, set-pieces, etc. As soon as his con's outweigh his pro's he'll get reduced playing time and then retire. A lot of rival fans neglect to notice that Gerrard was second to none when it came to goal-assists last year. Apparently, he's a spent force. <doh>

Bit of both, doesn't have to make up for Gerrards lack of mobility and doesn't get to hide behind him either.

Always said, too many players had a habit of deferring to Gerrard or Suarez to do something rather than do it themselves....it may have been awe and respect but it was still the wrong thing to do. They've been bought because they're good not because they can pass to G!

It's why I actually didn't want one marquee world class player this summer, it'd just be the same thing again. Be fine if we had 6 on the pitch because then it's a team of equals....

If this team can do well this year then WC players can come and won't be treated as if they're different....

That's vague stat though. In fact you could say that's an indicator that he's not a very good DM and one of the reasons 50 goals went the other way. I'm not saying it's true (obviously a lot will come from his passes directly fr DM position to strikers ) but what do we want priotity wise from our DM: a guy who creates goals or stops them? Is it not hendos and the other CM and AM jobs to provide the goals and assists and Gerrards to organise our back?

Henderson has to do Gerrards running for him (as verified by Gerrard himself!)

So his own game is stifled by having to cover for Gerrards lack of mobility. When he's got a more solid player alongside him, he can get forward more and play in a more expansive manner.

I'v said for ages Henderson reminds me of a young Lampard.

    Gerrard's and Lampard's dont balance.

Unlike various England managers Rodgers has the tactical knowledge to still make a midfield containing them both still work.

    Possibly

I used to notice this with Suarez gobbing off as well, I felt sorry for Sterling at times! He looked petrified at times and that can only affect his play which is never good

And who can forget Sturridge and Suarez arguing in the Derby
