Good article. When I was a youngster in the 60s the Centre would be packed of an evening with coachloads of Welsh over here to go to the Hippodrome or Colston Hall. Complete turnaround since then!
Very good article, but one that fails to mention the huge amount of Government funding that Cardiff, and other cities, receive compared to Bristol. Leeds' arena was partly built with Government money through a grant from their regional development agency, Yorkshire First. Liverpool's Echo Arena was built almost entirely from Government and European funding. However, the article is spot on when it mentions weak political leadership and hyper-nimbyism in Bristol. Interesting to hear from Daniela Radice. So Ms Radice reckons that 'community' action has nothing to do with the interminable delays to our and City's stadia? Is she blind and deaf or just wilfully f**king ignorant and lying about her own bloody involvement? She goes on to spout that "I have no view on Cardiff as I do not know anything about the situation there. I do not see our cities as being in competition'. She has no knowledge of a city 40 miles away? She doesn't think that when investors are looking to pump money into an area, or businesses looking to locate in a particular region, they don't look at the urban areas to see which are the best bets? My primary-school age son could grasp that simple concept of cities in proximity to each other competing for investment. The woman is a total **** and those who vote for her are morons.
