Why do we ignore the left side?

Mickey Grey and Allan Johnstone were the last proper left combination that I can remember.

Julio wasn't a part of any settled left side and since then we've had Kieran, Phil, Anton and various others playing (out of position) at LB with a variety of others like Frazier, Danny, Sess and Steed put out on the left wing. We've had a few RB's during the last few years (Halford, Chimbonda, Hutton for example) but never any LB.

Whilst strengthening the midfield, goalkeeper and defence the left has been ignored again.

Phil will be 'found out' at left back (he should be RB anyway)
Kieran will be played all over the place.
O'Shea, we don't know where and Anton may not be here!

We ALL know the left is a problem so why is it ignored?

One answer (N'Zogbia) it looks like we are going to let go, yet, we've been after him for a couple of years now and by many accounts he really wants to come here.

We haven't even spent the Bent transfer money yet and we still have Jordan's transfer money (plus the sky money, gate money, merchandising money and other incomes) so why are we not addressing the left sided problems.

It's true we may be paying high wages but we've also stopped having to pay the wages of Ned, Danny, Sully, Mensah, Jordan, Bolo and whoever else leaves.

It's not been a neutral transfer market for us, I reckon we are still in the black.
Are the ones coming in an improvement on the ones we've lost?

Surely we will be signing 1 or 2 proper 'big' signings and I'm disappointed Charlie looks like he's not one of them.

I know there's time to go in the transfer window and it could all change with a couple of marquee signings but I'm wary that some at the top may think they've done enough by signing some 'robust/battling' players (fairly cheaply) and a couple of gambles like Wickam and Ding Dong.

I think I was more optimistic going into last season than I am this season.

    Still,

we may do something about the left side!

I'm sure Bruce has something lined up, and all the talk surrounding a certain person has just been a distraction.

I like some of our new signings, (not all mind) so as always i'm trusting our manager to sort it.

i really think won could do a great job down the left!! i know it's early days and ive only seen him twice, but he looks a quality player.
and when he came he gave himself 6 months to settle and he already looks the real deal.... :)

still think we will get two more surprises before the end of the window , think bruce is saying he is happy with the size of the squad and **** just to get the price down for whoever he is looking at....

Aye but Johnstone was right footed too, cutting in & belting them with his right.
