Sounded like a boring game today and we were heading toward a vital 3 points in our fight when we gave it away. Meanwhile the others in the basement get their part of the job done and leave us at the bottom again. Many have commented on this site that we shouldn't worry about other team's results but today, even if we had got the 3 points, the other's scores would have done us little favour. I know we are still in the mix to stay up, but how much better it could have been today until our last 15 minutes let us down. Everything that could go wrong today actually happened and we can't afford many more of them. OUCH!
Dreadful Mike and I reckon this is the result that probably seals our fate We had the lead and we then proceeded to screw it up. Unforgiveable
I have listened to City on BBC Bristol for many years and have heard us lose so many games in the last 15 minutes that it makes my head spin. It almost seems that there is a secret script out there that only apllies to us but as yet none of those results have got us relegated. Today may be the final nail in our Championship coffin and it hurts so much because I feel let down by our owners and top brass who have had several years to right the ship but looked in the wrong direction every time it mattered. The bad decisions have now caught up with us and the future looks a lot bleaker after today's dismal performance, and no amount of politically correct words from the organisation will change things now. Unless all the other teams in the drop zone fall off the edge of the world we are probably doomed to League 1 next season. The best opportunity to increase our chances of survival came today at Wolves and we caved in when we could have secured all 3 points, and regrettably the difficult task suddenly has become a virtual impossibilty.
I went today, and it was very poor mike, very poor. You gamble on trying to get just a draw at this stage of the season against a team you can easily beat when you are on the verge of relegation, you are setting yourself up for failure. That sealed our fate today I am sad to say. For the first time this season I don't blame the players, I blame another poor decision from a manager who has all the talent to do a lot better. That was the 4th time I've been to an SOD away game, and the last time. Blackburn, Cardiff, Blackpool, and now Wolves. Not any attempt to win any of those games, and a waste of my time and money to go support my club.
It was a game that we could have, should have and needed to win and yet Sean tried to shut the doors. That decision was terrible for the players to operate under and even worse for people like yourselves who travelled to hopefully see us win away. We have had many games this season that could be considered as crucial but this had importance like no other and we changed our approach and gave it away. When the final points are tallied and the teams to be relegated are decided I believe we will be forced to look back on this game as the final straw that broke our back. What on earth was Sean thinking, and IMO he insulted the players by asking them to defend in depth, which is something that we are no good at, rather than using their enthusiasm to win the 3 points. Shameful.
I have felt since the new year that relegation was on the cards, but it looks more certain now than ever before.
