Yesterday, there was about ten utterly pished guys (mostly under 25) who spent the whole game shouting abuse at either the stewards or anybody that happened to be Scottish, whilst spending as little time as they could actually watching the game. Is it more important to get pished and then spend the whole game thinking and shouting anti this and anti that songs i.e Rule Britannia (whilst in Scotland) or Stick your Haggis up your arse etc (not overly offensive I grant you, but still what a complete and utter waste of time and does feck all for the team), even Engerland, Engerland or Yorkshire means feck all to most people and I don't support any of those two, I support Leeds United FC not the city or the county.
My main gripe isn't really about the songs, even though they were annoying, it was the fact these guys spent the whole game doing everything except watching the game, one of them actually got annoyed with me for not joining him in his humor, but for daring to be interested in the football!
Numpties one and all, I wish your liver and your future life well, you're gonna need it.
Also, why would Leeds fans try to slag Scottish people, do they not know the clubs history? Leeds have never won anything without a Scot being Captain, well unless you count Leeds City FC. & I don't count winning promotion from League One. There is a huge amount of positive history between Scotland and Leeds United FC, including our best player in the current squad, so why on earth would a so called Leeds United fan, try to slag the Scots! I don't go down to ER and stand and slag the English or Yorkshire, simply because I have respect for the whole place, so is it too much to ask for the same in return?
I hate all this we hate everyone and everybody that isn't from Leeds or Yorkshire ****e, I even hate all the anti Man Utd stuff, we are a hundred millions miles from Man Utd now, so let's get a grip.
I should point out that the rest of the 2000 Leeds fans at the game, the banter was good and they created a good atmosphere, full credit to them.
    End of rant......

Personally I can't stand all this engerlund engerlund OTT xenophobic patriotism, its pathetic & quite frankly embarrassing. The empire crumbled long ago & this country is great no more.
England is now just a mere saucepan in the kitchen of society & the sooner people realise that & displayed some humility when on foreign shores the better.

True but he's not wrong. It's an attitude that's passed down from idiot Father to idiot Son. We're all British we should all back each other.

I was in the upper tier directly above these guys some of the chants were quite funny like take your shoe off if you hate ken bates then proceeding to hold one shoe aloft , however some of the chants were stupid and designed to wind up the locals like no surrender to the IRA not even sure if motherwell is Catholic or Protestant not that I care or should have to .
We were made very welcome by the locals in the sports bar opposite the ground and the atmosphere at the ground was good natured.
At one point they seemed to start arguing amongst themselfs which looked like it would get ugly.
My 12 yo asked why they were doing to which I had no answer so I told him they were argiung over who loved Ken Bates the most .

When I hear Leeds fans singing the "stand up if you hate Man U" chant it really gripes me. Do Man U fans care? Of course they don't, does it sound like Leeds fans have a chip on their shoulder when they sing it? Of course it does.... Forget the hating other teams and start singing louder for your own team and any song or chant that brings religion into it just brings more shame than glory ...

Aye, to hell with everyone else's views or own enjoyment of the game, as long as the piss heads have a laugh and a bit of banter, everything is ok!
Times have changed and many people appear to no longer accept the garbage lot that attend football games, so let us hope they eventually get bored of not getting the attention they crave and move on the rugby league or cricket.
My whole point of this topic, was to ask why they spend money not to watch the game and instead spend the whole game trying to provoke the opposition fans and some of the supporters from the team they "allegedly" support. Perhaps some people have already responded with the reasons and it's rather sad, perhaps that's why they need to drink and sing abuse, because they have personal issues, that they use football as a method of trying to deal with. Not directed as anyone in particular, just a general opinion.

I think I already stated that these songs were not overly offensive, perhaps you would care to read my post again. You appear to have missed the point of the post, but there you go, you seem to have problems in that department with most posts.

Your trying to tell me you go to football just to watch football?

I go to have a laugh with my mates and enjoy the football, the banter between fans is funny!

If everyone was the same though it would be boring

im open to anyones view point, however this is pointless. banter in football is part of the game, and if those lads have travelled up, brought tickets and gone out on the piss, so what! its part of the game and i love it. maybe sit in a private box next time or take some ear defenders so your not offended?
