Why do leeds release the team sheet selection 48 hours before a game ? surely it would be better to keep our cards close to our chest and release the team selection 1 hour before kick off , they could always tell the players who is going to be playing but not tell the opposition 48 hours before kick off giving the opposition time to organise their side against us , surely 1 hour before kick off would be better then the side we are playing wont have a clue what tactics to do against us ??? any ideas on this ?

Below are videos on what leeds united and bielsa should be doing !!! keeping secrets ha ha LOL

Maybe Bielsa considers it to be pyschologically advantageous, in that he is telling our opponents that Leeds have nothing to fear from them , and that its up to them to change their style of play to compete with ourselves.

Not saying I agree with it, but I would think that seems to be the most likely reason

I think that's exactly why he does it. Apart from the fact that he rarely makes wholesale changes (not that the squad is actually big enough for him to do that).

Very true LoL, not as if we can make wholesale changes to surprise anyone, given that for most of the season, the first 11 have picked themselves, due to player availability.

Now that I've said that, next game BPF will probably be in the number 10 role :D

Jeez, if our forwards were more clinical in front of goal this game would be over by now <steam>

Most goals come from mistakes or lucky deflections, rebounds etc but you have to take a gamble and be ready waiting for one and our players seemed to have stopped doing this, where we were doing it early season.

why not leave tyler roberts out as he is number 11 ( i have picked number 11 as eddie gray was number 11 most of the seasons he played 5 seasons he was number 11 ) then you could dress eddie gray up with tyler roberts mask on and dye his hair black and put make up on him and play eddie gray he will show them where the back of the net is , as in the video below

It makes no difference. By now everyone knows what our team will be, our style of play and who our danger men are. He might as well name it

I think it comes down to how Bielsa works the squad. It's a small squad, so the lineup is prolly guessable by the opposition anyway, but for the players, they have a couple of days free from the 'wonder if I'll get picked' insecurities, and allows them to relax. Yes, they could do it internally, but there's an added edge of confidence for them if it's public. More difficult for the manager to change his mind (well, most managers - Bielsa is Bielsa, after all! :) ).

With a larger squad, and a 'normal' manager's way of working, you want to encourage competition for a place, so there's an inclination to wait until the last minute to squeeze the last out of a player. There's also managers who change tactics on a regular basis, so will want to keep that secret to give them an edge, and revealing the team might cause the opposition to guess the tactics correctly.

So, in summary, I reckon Bielsa wants to encourage confidence in his players, whereas others prefer to engender competition.

I know Bielsa has worked a minor miracle but I would still have preferred Douglas back in, Alioski on the wing, Harrison switched to the right wing and Pablo at 10. Then choose between Bamford & Roberts up front, the latter deserves a go in his proper position, particularly as the fans aren't having him in the role behind Bamford.

I still think we're a better team without Douglas. He has no rapport with his wingers, and you can almost guarantee his winger will have a stinker. Ayling has been of a similar ilk of late, but is returning to his natural game. I have to say that I like the dynamic with Harrison & Alioski on the same wing. I'm still waiting for these deadballs, corners & shots that Douglas was supposed to be bringing to the table. Hopefully he's kept it for the run-in & is about to unleash. But I doubt it.
