Can anyone tell me ? I just saw that Betfred paid out on Man U winning the title in April when they were 8 points clear. Why ? They lost £500,000, idiots
It's good publicity. If you pay out early 20 times and 19 out of 20 it costs you nothing then it's cheap advertising. Betfred or whoever it was won't be losing a lot of sleep over it.

It also encourages people to bet with them next year because if you back Utd and they go 8 points clear next march there's every chnace you'll get paid out even if they blow up again. Certainly the 2nd time Fred Done has paid out early on Utd winning the league when they've got pipped on the line....
