Why do Arsenal always lose to newly promoted sides?

Yet again Wengers boys lose to a recently promoted side following the pattern of previous seasons losses to Newcastle, West Brom, Hull and Birmingham to name but some, why does this keep happening when our rivals seem to beat them easily.

Is it that our players underestimate them or are afraid they will get injured or that they just cant be bothered?

i think it must be down tho Wengers approach as the players have varied over time.

Whtaver the reason it hurts our chances of success and needs to be addressed.

I'm not saying these are the reasons but a few thoughts:

    - we barely change our tactics
    - the players get complacent and underestimate the newly promoted sides
    - we buckle under sustained pressure
    - most newly promoted sides play without fear

Combine all of these together and I think that's why our record is so bad. Teams like Norwich, Swansea and Blackpool and Hull in the past would get at us because a) we're mentally weak b) we play an open game and c) beating Arsenal is still seen as a big scalp.

Although plenty of sides have managed it in the last 2 or 3 seasons.

  4. Lots for Arsene to get right.

I think the current team has to accept it's share of the responsibility. As you say Bobby, complacency, an underestimation of the opposition, a lack of mental spirit when the going gets tough. They really need to keep their minds on the job if we are not to concede goals like the third one to Swansea.
