"With all due respect, when he does go, itâs unlikely to be to Southampton. This is a man who knows heâs capable of playing for a top club â he may be happy to wait until the right one comes calling." "Great vision, a composed passer and an effective ball-winner - with respect to Southampton, Celtic's Beram Kayal should be playing his trade at Old Trafford, not St Mary's." http://www.sabotagetimes.com/football-sport/why-celtics-beram-kayal-is-out-of-southamptons-league/? I read this article and found it amusing how the author seems to think that Beram Kayal is way too good for us. First of all, this guy has only played for Maccabi Haifa and Celtic, two teams that play in two very weak leagues, so there is no guarantee that he will do well in the premier league. Secondly, I think we showed on Saturday that we have what it takes to take on the big guns. We played some really good stuff against an Ajax team that was much further into the preparation than us, had scored an average 6 goals per game in their pre season friendlies and had beaten Celtic, 4-0, a few days before playing us. So, even though we are not Man Utd, I´m sure we are not a step down for Celtic, if anything we are a step up, because of the league we are in. Anyway, if he we were to sign him, I think it would be a much better for him to come to us than stay at Celtic and "wait untill the right offer comes calling" as I think he would have more playing time with us and progress with us more than at other "big clubs" ...and one thing is for sure, he´s not going to progress more as a footballer in the SPL if he stays there.
More undeserved arrogance from a country with one of the world's ****test leagues. I hadn't even heard of this guy until a couple of months ago.
It's funny because those at Parkhead would collectively cream themselves if their team could in any capacity somehow play in the PL. Just as they do with their yearly participation in the CL.
It's like having the biggest house in communist era East Berlin, and thinking "why would anyone think about escaping to the West, well except for maybe dream in Holywood"
Particularly when your neighbour's similarly big house has just been demolished, or am I taking it too far?
The way I see it, Celtic belong on the same shelf as the likes of APOEL Nicosia and FC Basel. They'll play in Europe every year due to being the best team in a poor league, but that by no means makes them good. It does, however, make them think they're among the world's best. I'd love to see them play in the Premier League for one season, just to see how good they really are. I personally think they'd go down.
Bring it on! It's been a good couple of weeks since someone last took offense to something I said on here
Might happen... Here's why it probably won't.
Celtic are so good, they demolished HJK Helsinki 2-1 I'll have you know. They also nearly always win the league containing footballing giants such as.... Inverness, Kilmarnock, not JUST Dundee, but Dundee United also. Underestimate these teams at your peril, Messi and Ronaldo are longing for an offer from Celtic to test themselves in such a competitive, talented league.
HJK Helsinki, who probably aren't better known as Helsingin Jalkapalloklubi. They got through to this round by beating Knattspyrnufélag ReykjavÃkur, 9-1.
Hollow victory though, isn't it..? I mean, how much does it count for really..? Celtic will undoubtedly save some money and allow their quality to drop, while Rangers are toiling their way up the leagues. In a peculiar way, it could actually make the SPL slightly more competitive.
