We prattle on trying to blame individuals, but how many times can we blame Pardew, Ashley, Williamson, Tiote, out of form players, players not stepping up....

I'm sick of people going on as if we're only a little bit of investment and a set of balls away from being up there with the big boys. The truth is, the manager isn't good enough. Players that showed promise aren't developing into the players we thought they'd be. Half the team doesn't look committed to the cause.

We're just not good enough. Not in spirit. Not in integrity. And not even in quality. I don't see any area of our team that I'd call top 6 quality, and we deserve no more than a challenge for the top 10. Simple as. We are where we're meant to be, until we prove otherwise. We're no closer to being a top 6/7 team than anyone else in mid table, and it will take a massive overhaul to ever get back to where we can dream to be.

I feel sorry for Williamson, he's an example of what I'm talking about.

Coloccini hasn't had a long stretch of good games since the season we finished 5th. He's been in and out with injuries, and inconsistent, and a shadow of his former self.

Whenever Williamson has a good spell, everyone laughs and says "get in there Mike Beckenbauer", sarcastically, and he rarely gets the praise he deserves for his good performances.

Coloccini could be **** for a while, and suffering from a spell of injuries, then he has one great game or two and we're all ****ing over him, singing the "oh coloccini" song.

Saylor is just ****, and has the odd good few games a season, and his fist pumps are just annoying me now. He's **** and he's also not a good bloke either. Nothing likeable about him. Throwing yourself about isn't good enough. It comes in handy sometimes, but he's just not consistent, fit enough or a respectable player for the most part.

We all hit on Mike Williamson for not being good enough for our side, yet there's no one else in the central defensive positions that's been better than he has over the last season and a half, consistency wise anyway.

When he does badly, he REALLY does badly, I know, and he seems like club level material sometimes, but he is a good solid 7/10 in most of the games he plays. Nothing special, but solid. Wins aerial battles, holds off bigger threats, and even puts in a decent standing tackle. He's even starting to look more like a threat in the box when decent deliveries are put in the box.

It infuriates me in games where most of the team could be questioned that we pick on people like Williamson. He might have been the ****test on the day but only in a **** defence.

He's grown stronger, kept his head down, and can go toe to toe with a lot of bigger players that we used to have no counter for.

Williamson is good enough for Newcastle United until we prove he's not good enough by ****ing remaining consistent and having a solid, consistent back four. Until then, he's just what we deserve.

And he's a respectable bloke who doesn't get involved in stupid rows, bitching, press bullshit and off field antics.

Its a bit like Spartacus when they stand up one at a time and shout 'I'm Spartacus'.

With us it's 'We're Not Good Enough'.

You sound dispirited Tash, it's not like you, you're normally more upbeat than most.

I've actually not felt passionate about much over the last couple of years.

Come on Tash mate Williamson is ****ing ****. Colo's the best defender we've had in my lifetime alongside Woodgate. I don't think anyone would dispute these things.

Williamson has been generally good for for us IMHO, but this season he has really had a drop in form. He'd be my 4th choice CB right now behind Colo, Taylor and Dummett. With 18 months left on his contract we should be looking to move him on and get something for him at the end of the season as I wouldn't be wanting to give him a new contract in all honesty being 31 now.

As a club though, we need to get used to being mediocre (if fact I think we have been used to it for some time) because we will achieve nowt under Mike Ashley's dictatorship.

To be fair to Pardew, he can get your lot playing as a team. I don't know how, but on a player-for-player basis there's not much between us, yet you seem to pass the ball around better and create more chances. We're both good enough to go on good runs, but not over a whole season it seems. Puzzling...

But with respect nor are sunderland I don't think we should beat them but the way you go on as if we played a team who were just to good, the difference is they wanted it and more to lose a derby game is bad but 4 on the bounce I pray for the day pardew leaves the club

Answering the question of whether newcastle are good enough or not depends upon what you think the club is capable of achieving.

Yous are owned by Sunderland every year these days. Weve won more league titles since the clubs were formed aswell. Yous not even good enough to claim the north easts throne and that is obvious to everybody. Something that is obvious doesnt need to be admitted, its just obvious.

Pratt. And when did you last win the league, how many cups have you won, how many times have you been in Europe, who attracts biggest support, etc, etc.

Ok, so if now that you have matched one of our four in a rows we are forever in your shadow, does that mean you are still in the shadow of our recent five in a row?

Livin in the moment marra, thats what its all about these days. (Not for yous though, yous live in the past)

But if you wanna go to the past then hows about you top the 1-9 at SJP? Or the 6 titles to your 4?

Yous used to live off the breadcrumbs of 20 years ago, when you spent more money than anyone else and tried to buy the title with the world record fee for shearer and had a few spankings in europe. Yous won nowt, no breadcrumbs left.

Enjoy your memories of winning nowt over a cuppa hot choccy and a cigar.

A few scrappy 1-0 wins, that could have gone either way. Chelsea were all over us. Has lucky runs. Also has really bad runs. Which I rather suspect is what is coming now, with Man Utd, Everton, Chelsea and Southampton in our next 6 games.

To be honest the team of the 90s was a good time. It went towards undoing some of the pain of watching in the 70s and 80s, especially when we were giving out far more spankings in Europe than we received.

Still today is your day and you have every right to sound Smug. Enjoy It <ok>

There are lots of negatives from today.
One would expect a full post mortem.

    Good enough for what?

    The Champions League?

No we are not good enough.

The table does not lie. We're mid-table and that's as good as it's ever going to get under Ashley.

May as well get comfy and try to enjoy eternal mediocrity.
