**** sake, i watched the so called '' minute silence '' last night and there were some people shouting at the ground, i mean they should show respect, it was 55 years yesterday since the Munich air disaster, people who were sitting next to them should've told them to shut up.
Wasn't just a few people either, you could hear it all round the stadium. The Brazilians must think we're a classy lot...
I was in the pub and the volume was down. I had to tell a united 'supporter' to be quiet because I knew what was going on. Obviously he didn't. Was it very noticeable at the ground?
yeah it was, i heard it on the television, like i said in my other comment, i'm sure i heard boos at the end of it i could be wrong.
It was always likely to be poorly observed. I'd guarantee that to man, those doing the booing weren't born when the Munich disaster happened & therefore have no real affinity with the tragedy. Not an excuse, but it's a genuine reason.
Don't see how that's a genuine reason, any more than that bloke who pissed on the Cenotaph had a genuine reason that he wasn't born when WWI and WWII occurred. You don't have to feel affinity to show respect. I was two when Heysel happened, but would always respect any commemoration of the event.
Because you're probably a nice bloke, with a sense of decency & compassion. We're talking about a small minority of bone head football fans amongst a crowd of 90K here, almost certainly southern based, who support whichever London club & thought it 'amusing' to disrespect the silence.
No, because not that many Northern monkeys can make a midweek trip to London to watch an England friendly that's on the box mate.
May be worth reminding people that it was a joint tribute to the Munich Air Disaster, the anniversary of Sir Bobby Moore’s death and the Santa Maria fire in Brazil. The minutes silence was ruined by minorities on both sides. They would have to be hypocrites then, because various media reports were mentioning that Brazil fans were also heckling during the minutes silence.
