To be fair, we have kept 10 clean sheets so his errors don't ALWAYS cost a goal, but far too often they do!
No, that's true, but it does look it is becoming more common-place in recent weeks, and we are losing points thanks to them.
Curious one isn't it - right up there with the best in terms of the number of clean sheets and yet a horrendous goal difference. The biggest issue is perhaps at home where in a way it's easier to keep a clean sheet - the away side are generally going to be reasonably happy with a draw and unfortunately we're too often giving it to them.
In answer to the original question, because we are rubbish in the final third due to strikers who cannot hit a barn door from two yards ( wolf has one shot on target every 3 games), they are not helped by poor tactics and lack of quality. It's just awful.
Thanks Bath, I wasn't sure of that! What I do know is when we keep a clean sheet, he is often the main cause of that with some very high class defending, but when he loses concentration, it does nearly always lead to a goal gifted to the opposition! Our paradoxical problem is, we need the former but not the latter!
This has got to be one of the posts of the season! Thanks for making me spit my coffee out! Rep from me!
That's really surprised me I find it strange he's manage to concentrate for 10 full games given his record for mistakes. I wonder how many points this season have been dropped due to his individual errors? Or goals conceded? It does seem that when he switches off we do get punished. I would like to see him rested for a while with Bennett coming in just to maybe re focus his play?
When he played well he's head and shoulders or best defender so I'm not sure why people are surprised he was involved in our clean sheets, however when he's not on form he's a massive liability. This lack of consistency is an issue and one that wasn't so prevalent last year where the issue tended to be his partner, I wonder whether him not having to worry about his partner so much lead to his concentration slipping.
Anyone know why we had no central defender on the bench this weekend? Is Ryan injured? It's clearly a waste of time having Becchio on there so it seemed strange to not have another defensive option
Supposedly it was a tactical move to have good attacking options, given he was never going to bring on Becchio it feels more like and unnecessary risk.
