With Barton possible signing for QPR I was reading this article on the transfer and it pretty much sums up my feelings.

QPR fans must be feeling delighted about the signing? He's a perfect player for lower teams, great support player whilst solid defensively.

And Newcastle fans surely you should want him to stay, despite his troubles he's a committed player and I can see you struggling without him.

He is a very good player and if he joins QPR he will be far and away the best player at the club. You highlight the main thing that we will miss if he leaves and that is work rate, dig and energy. The upside is we still have Tiote to do the donkey work but its better having 2 players to do it rather than 1. Also you could see how exposed Simmo was last night without Joey helping him.

Definitely, I watched the game last night and good point about Simpson looked a bit exposed in defence! If he were to leave I can't really see someone replacing the amount of assists and what he brings to the game though. You have Tiote and Cabaye but beyond that not much...

I think we will be ok assists wise, once Marveaux,Gosling and Obertan find there feet we will be fine. Its really the points I have said above that worry me. I think from a QPR point of view Taraabt and Barton in the centre of the midfield may be good enough to easily keep you up if they can gel.

With a midfield containg Joey Barton, Faurlin and Taarabt I can see QPR doing pretty well with a nice balance. Faurlin and Barton can sit deep and defend will yet still dictate a keep as deep lying playmakers so even though they're contributing in attack it gives Taarabt more security going forward meaning he can be utilised fully in a more free role.

Am I the only one getting a little miffed at other teams supporters telling us how wonderful Barton will be for us as a 'lower' club and how he will be head and shoulder above our existing squad. If he ain't good enough for the Geordies or the Scousers then he ain't good enough for us IMO.

I think its a bit harsh on QPR fans stringing them along.

Saying hes doesnt know what to do

    He can start with Rooney.

    Ooops. Sorry. Misread that.

Thought it said "Joey will do a job on anybody, no doubt about it."

He is good enough for Newcastle though, he was one of their best players last year.

I don't think anyones trying to see he's lower club standard. I just think if you're a newly promoted club or one fighting against relegation, Joey Barton is the perfect player to have in your squad with his style and attitude.

No disrespect to QPR but I think Joey was hoping a so called bigger club would come in for him.

I like Joey but he cant string QPR along.

Will we miss him, only time will tell and our new signings will have to step up. On early appearances they look promising.

don't post cross board threads asking for our opinion tbh thought it was a good article raising a decent debate till the usual paranoid fecker comes on like

as for that bit... laughable he's well good enough for us but has burnt his bridges with the men at the top we'd all love him to stay and get a new long deal but it ain't going to happen.
nothing would make me happier if he turned you down and saw out his contract with us

And i generally believe, dispite everything, he doesn't want to leave Newcastle! But certain elements within the club want him gone!

Yeah, he is stalling for time hoping that Newcastle will offer him something. Time for him to carry out his threat! Imo, Joey shouldnt be in football. Maybe a prison team. How some1 can put a cig on someones eye is beyond me, a lout like that should be packing burgers at minimum wage for life not enjoying a lifestyle like this.
Out of interest, when Alan Shearer was manager and he fell out with Barton, who did Newcastle fans side with? seeing as Shearer is generally seen as a god by fans.

People mean that Barton will be great for a newly promoted team because he has great fight in him and drive that rubs off on other players. As newly promoted teams are expected to battle to retain their PL status that would be a good quality.

He is good enough for Newcastle, and I'd say he's good enough for most if not all top half PL teams outside the top 4. Few Newcastle fans want him to leave because he's a great worker, and he can stay if he wants to - but it looks like you lads will have him because "his hands are tied" <doh>.

Shearer definitely. Even NUFC fans mostly hated Barton then. He made a stupid two footed tackle against Liverpool that helped us on our way to relegation.

I also agree Barton doesn't deserve to be in the game, but he has been immense for us this last year. Also I think people always overlook the fact that Barton is constantly targeted by opposition players - Song, Henry, Fuller to name just a few.

"Why will Joey Barton be a good signing for QPR?"

Because he is absolutely brilliant and will only get the best out of Derry, Faurlin.

Also he'll undoubtedly play the bad cop to Taarabt whilst Warnock gives him a cuddle and Adel would probably listen to him as he's been there and done it in the prem unlike when Orr gives him a bollocking and you can see Adel thinking "I'm sorry who are you?"
