There are quite a few fans wanting Derek Mcinnes as our new manager.......but i'm scratching my head into the reasons why. oneforthebristolcity 13-10-2011. Well i was one of the few, and at this moment in time, i think me and the other few have been justified in our choice. Onefor, what do you think now.
at first i laughed at the idea of derek coming to us, i wanted someone who knew the league, and could get us to safety, but when i read into what del boy was about, the more he impressed me, when it got to the point that it was del i wanted and nobody else, glad we've got him
For me Del Boy was the outstanding candidate from the start, no matter having no managerial experience of the Championship, he had done a brilliant job with St.Johnstone in the Scottish Prem. & that was enough for me (HIS team drew at Rangers on Saturday by the way). So come on Onefor, what do you think now!!! AD & a few others would like to know, will be very interesting.
I was a very early caller for Millen to go,I wanted him out before the Coppout debarcle but to his credit and he is due it, he kept us up,that did nothing to change my opinion and eventually he left,as a person he was a really nice guy but football wise no,I had to say that. Delboy I wanted as soon as I read about him,I liked the idea of a young, fresh talent who had played at Prem and Championship levels, had managerial experience and success at good levels,no connection or history at all with our club, all these are experiences that Millen never had and to cap it all Del is modest, takes the blame, mixes well with the fans,he even attended the recent Glos cup game against Man U to show all around team support,he even brought the Doc with him and he is also a nice guy... I think that's enough reasons to say I really rate Delboy....
Bit early for all this self congratulation boys. I too wanted Delboy after reading his reviews (an obvious winner!) but we aren't safe yet remember!
Agree Banksy................a long way to go alright, a few bumpy roads to travel along yet, but believe we will survive with Del & Doc in charge.
First of all I don't believe I EVER said I didn't want him, reasons being I didn't know anything about him.....Fact......so I was asking the question. BUT I was one that had been calling the Millen out months and months ago..........Which as we've seen is 100% right. I do believe you and JG2 wanted Millen to stay, so how you can take credit for anything is beyond me. Plus the fact that Derek was a gamble..........so you coming on here with this rubbish that you knew he would be great is pure guess work.. As it is, I hold my hands up and say, he's a breath of fresh air compared what we had.....which in all honesty is not differcult is it? I also said with the right manager, we should be over half way up the table with the players we've got......Just needed someone with a brain.........Well done Derek. Just think what might have been if Millen would have been sacked last season and took on the like of DM?? If only the board and the Millen lovers would have listened!!
Where did i say you didn't want him, if you read all the threads, you will see i said that Millen stayed to long, fact, where do i say that DM would be great, at the moment he's doing a fantastic job, along with his assistant, and long may it continue. By the way i wasn't a Millen lover, i'm not a lover of any professional football manager, they don't stay around long enough to fall in love with.
Quite a pathetic thread if I'm honest....and the point of it was? What were trying to state? Apart from, that I was right regarding Millen I don't really get it. I think any decent manager would have done a lot better than Keef....it was there for most of us to see, other than the blind few... As I maintain, Keef should have gone, once we were safe last season. I don'y buy that he saved us from relegation.....I beliveve he put us there in the first place.. But I was criticised for my comments at the time....but hey that's now in the past. As for Derek, there was no proof but a good feeling from those who wanted him......and as it's turned out, that feeling is justified..... I did say, if he was appointed I would back him.........that's exactly what I'm doing....
As is the case with myself, I think you would find that most fans who said they wanted Millen to stay were in fact reacting to the situation a year before, where Gary Johnson was hounded out of his stride by several on the boards (who subsequently disappeared along with those boards). We wanted some stability, continuity, and a base to build from, and were prepared to overlook certain factors to give that situation a chance to happen. The Copout fiasco really didn't help either in developing this environment where Millen would gain support. Several mini-revivals, and some good signings, also stregthened his case and kept the support going. However, it was sadly destined to fall on its arse. How cruel is fate, and how wise are we all in retrospect. But now we have what we all really wanted. A new manager, who has breathed fire through our club, and a feel good factor which just leaves us wondering- how far can this go ?
BRR -'Gary Johnson was hounded out of his stride by several on the boards' - You are in LaLa land - or did the 'several' vacate to the Posh and Cobblers boards as well. '(who subsequently disappeared along with those boards)' - Still here and right about Millen as well. BRR - Lovers of the Johnsons and Millen should forever give thanks to the 'several' who were correct all along. Since their demise, both GJ and PJ have been sacked at Posh and Northampton and Junior has been dropped from bottom of L1 Chesterfield. If Millen's ever employed again he'll probably end up coaching non league. As for DM, I can't praise him enough - If only the Board got rid of Millen and listened to the 'several' earlier.
I've never known two people blow there own trumpet like you and your mate Onefor, Millen, Millen, thats all we hear from both of you, he's gone sunshine, you helped get rid of him, good on you, your not a vicar by any chance, because you certainly know how to preach. Then its back to the Johnson lovers, well know doubt, you were once a Johnson lover, and don't say you weren't, because vicars don't lie. Nice to see you cannot praise DM enough, lets hope and pray it stays that way, because if it doesn't, we know the first two who will be calling for his head.
A great post AD, sure put those two trumpet blowers to rights!!! Why ho why does RP keep downing the man (GJ) who along with his assistant (KM) got us into the Championship, he should be thankful for what they done for good all Bristol City.
Well some of you...ie BJA & AD don't read posts very well or only read what you want to read to makeup some point.. I was always right behind GJ, in fact never wanted him to leave.....something Redprintt & I came to blows over, in fact two things.......GJ & LJ. So incorrect that I go looking to call for the managers head as if to say it's what I enjoy doing.......quite the opposite...... Millen was different and just knew after just a few months that he was not right for this football club.. It's not trumpet blowing, it was just stating the obvious, what looks to be working and what isn't..................You can see it now can't you??? Millen wasn't working... But most of us can see that DM seems to know what he's doing......even with the same players......Millen was the problem.. Not rocket Science for some!!!!!
'I've never known two people blow there own trumpet like you and your mate Onefor' Trumpet blowing or reminding a few idiots that they know nothing about anything ? AND Had to laugh - 'Well i was one of the few, and at this moment in time, i think me and the other few have been justified in our choice' - Kettle black etc etc Tut Tut A Dick. Behave. After DM's first game against Birmingham I commented - 'Have to say I was surprised how McInnes set the team up. It could have been Millen. Nyatanga out of position and a 'natural' LB McGivern on the bench. Back to 2 wingers. He'll soon realise he can't play that way for 2 reasons. 1. NK aint up to it unless we play an extra man (Cisse) in midfield. 2. J-C-R is lightweight, small but most of all useless' Earlier on a few were berating Maynard and 1For commented 'Give him service he will score goals for fun..........He's a quality player, you can't take that away from him, we just need other players of equal quality around him.. I commented 'OneFor is spot on. Form is temporary - Class is permanent' Have I ever been wrong ? ps 1For - are they for real ? The rows we ever had about Nepotism !!! Especially dear old BJA - he was your biggest mate in the old 606 days. Now he's got into bed with AD - Hope your not to upset mate. As mother says - 'Liars need good memories'.
Ha Ha Redprintt, I had BJA & AD as the same person!!!! Like I said, they, between them they don't actually read the posts properly and seem to pick out things/quotes out of context. They do like to bounce off one another.........but still haven't got a clue.. Like you. I feel although we don't always agree with one another, we do give out constructive views. We've had our clashes in the past, some quite brutal!!!!! but that's because we both want the best for our club and not just making a point just for the sake of........Unlike some we can mention... Maybe it's that we both have been involved within the game all be it at a much lower level....but at the end of the day, technically it's all the same.. I'm getting to a point where it's not worth commenting on threads from the likes of these two muppets as I'm sure a concrete wall has more knowledge of the game..
Ha Ha BJA & AD as the same person, woops, wrong again. They like to bounce off one another, now if thats not the kettle calling the pot black, i don't know what is. Maybe its that we both have been involved in the game, well it would take to long to write down my involvement in football, but it would make good reading. And when it comes to two muppets, and concrete walls, thats probably what you played your football against.
