    Lads you have absoulutlet mugged off liverpool here, you have sold them a 10 million player for 35. He is good, but thats all he is, good. He is not great by any stretch. Ok your a bit short up front but your not gonna go down and then in the summer you can bring in 3 or 4 quality provided ashley doesnt do a glazer on you. If this money gets reinvested you lot are sorted. You got the much better end of the bargain.

    As for player loyalty and all that cobblers, thats all it is, cobblers. Players go where the money is even if it is there home town club. Or the trophies, but that rules out lfc. This is football circa 2011.

    As for caroll. He aint that great and I have seen far superior newcastle players in my day. And liverpool have just bought him for 35 million, you should be happy, as a MUFC fan I am more than happy they have blown their torres wedge on this overrated peice of tripe. he is a bad seed and will go down the collymore path mark my words.

    Good luck for the rest of the season, you will still get top 10 IMO and I think most NUFC fans would have taken that come the start of the season.

    <ok>

    Start of season we would have been happy one place above relegation.

    appreciate the comments mate, and i was actually just on your redcafe forum about 5 mins ago - on the 40m thread and was thinking when you see all those other names - then 'carroll' with 6 months prem expeience, then yes we have got a very good deal and he is very overpriced.
    BUT, he is bloody good - unbelievably good in the air, strong, good left foot, gets goals, assists, can hold the ball up, and whats worse is he is only going to get better - i thin kyou have underrated him a bit in this post.

    I'm torn as to whether i want a local lad to do well or hope his career fails miserably - im still undecided.

    And for the fact our only four strikers now are Ameobi, Best, Lovenkrands and Ranger... If we wanted Carroll to go, we would have wanted a replacement, which we didnt get.

    Stretty, agree with the tone of your article. Newcastle absolutely mugged the Scousers, but Carroll is not your typical run of the mill overhyped Englishman. He is the real deal, IMO, and if he sorts himself out off the pitch (big if), I think he could be a huge star. He has it all really. Amazing in the air, left foot, right foot, good finisher, scores from all areas of the pitch, unbelievably strong, good technique. The only flaw I can see in his game is his lack of pace. If he fulfills his potential then he will be a top quality player, IMO. £35M is ridiculous though. That cowboy Cashley must be laughing his way to the bank.

    They dont have any decent wingers to cross the ball into him anyway.

    jason puncheon - quality wide man at southampton (now on loan at balckpool). jason roberts - proven premier league talent, bags of experience. alan tait of swansea - great leader/talker, will organise the defence. Stephen warnock - absolute quality left back and a ready made replacement for Jose. Who am i trying to kid :(

    If we spend a net of more than 5m in the summer i will honestly be amazed!

    Pavlychenko for me doesnt have enough, but then again maybe that would change with regular game time. Gabby A however is a quality player, good shout that.

    For the remainder of the season you could stick smith up front though.........................................Ok ill get my coat.
