This seems to be the most illogical thing to do in order to solve the goal scoring problem. See Defoe has most goals in the team.

ANYONE PLEASE EXPLAIN TO ME HOW THIS MOVE MAKES SENSE

I doubt Toronto FC have £90k per week going spare to cover his wages.

Because he has the ability and the effrontery to :-

be cunning enough to find a yard or two of space.,
have the strength and determination to get involved in the goal scoring process.,
produce a decent shot from anywhere within the final 1/3.......

Not to mention EPL experience. <whistle>

Will be gutted if JD leaves but getting a 4 year deal worth £90k a week (if true) is fantastic for a 31 year old.

Though the fact we can't score for **** at the moment, it begs the question as to why we're selling a striker when we could probably do with adding one, especially with Ade likely to move.

Isn't this just speculation off the back of Defoe's comments in the international break and Ryan Nelsen talking him up?
It would kill any chance of him going to Brazil in the summer, so that alone makes it very unlikely, in my opinion.

Absolutely no way would he go. If we tell him he is surplus to requirements, then we must have something exciting lined up (Soldado2?). But he'll stay in Europe until the World Cup imo.

Because he's either scoring, or being a liability, there's no inbetween.

Shaw's probably Chelsea bound. He supports them, Cole won't be at the top of his game forever and they've got the cash.
Not sure if Bertrand is injured, but Mourinho has played a right-back in his position while Cole's out.

If everyone at the club is fit, then Defoe does not start. If everyone for England is fit, Defoe still does not start, so maybe a 4 year contract at his age and a decent salary plus guaranteed football is tempting to him.

For Spurs, It doesn't! Whilst not perfect, he's a proven Premiership goal scorer. Selling him at the moment seems to be madness, unless they have a new signing lined up for January.

However, as has been said, from Defoe's point of view it certainly would make sense, if he really has been offered that sort of contract at his age...

    Is she still preforming......

    "Where did they go"
(Pye records).... (released 1972)... sold about 19 records., in New Zealand.

"Make it go/Those were the days"
    Double A side...(Pye records)....(released 1968)...was big in Japan.

and then there was my favorite "Moppet on a Spring". :1980_boogie_down:

'Some say she should've done a remix dub-wise of "Theres always something there to remind me".

Sorry! ....I'll just get me coat.

Could possibly see a Bertrand inclusion in some sort of deal for Shaw IF Southampton want to sell, as I don't see him being the type who will force a move even if it is to the club he supports. Azpillicueta being in superb form at left beck is the reason he's been picked, Cole hasn't been outstanding and has picked up a couple of knocks this season.

The move to Toronto has fallen thru.
Local customs officials found Defoe miles (offside) from all the Canadian territorial lines
    of longitude/latitude.

  17. Why are we getting shot of Defoe? Do you really need to ask that question!

Defoe has been next to useless for the past two and half seasons. We should never have bought him back off Pormpey.

We currently have a crisis with our strikers, and Defoe is a massive part of that problem.

And please don't tell me he's a decent squad player, because he most certainly isn't. A decent squad player will come on and win us games. Defoe hasn't done that for some while, certainly not in the league, and certainly with no where near enough consistency for him to justify a place in a squad that has delusions of top 4.

We can all say what we like about Defoe, some like him, some don't.

However, once again this summer there was no net spend. the £100m was cancelled out by the sales of other players.

So, ask yourselves, with this in mind, who are we going to get for £6m who's going to be better than Defoe? (if £6m is what he's supposedly worth). There's no sign of us spending anything without recouping it somewhere else. - so who are we realistically selling in addition to Defoe, to get us the "£x" millions we need for another striker?

Yeah! Get rid of Defoe! Sell him! He's not top four quality! We've got enough proven goalscorers in the squad! There are goals everywhere! A sure step forward will be to sell a striker who, at the very least, is incredibly useful in all the cup competitions! That way we'll score more goals! And think of what we could do with the 6m! All 6 of them!

Seriously, this whole "top four quality" thing...

"The top four" is an expression referring to the first four teams that finish in the English Premier League. It is not a magical mantle that is held by a special class of manager or player. The players that play for the teams which finish in the first four places in the English Premier League do not have iridescent halos and magical auras that are unique to a player who has a contract with a team that finished in the first four places in the English Premier League. Apart from Ledley King. There is such a long list of players not as good as Jermaine Defoe who have played for "top four" teams I can't be bothered to start one. Until I see solid evidence that we are full of better options (as we were when we rightly sold him the first time round) I can see no logic at all to people thinking that what this team needs is to get rid of Defoe.

I speak as someone who's never rated him that highly but at the same time I appreciate what we have in him. 3/4 of the EPL teams would love to have him available for selection. And if we signed anyone nearly as dangerous for 6m then we'd be going on and on about what a fantastic bargain we'd got.

Selling him would be mental. Which is not to say it won't happen. There must be more players out there who can't play up top alone and have no EPL experience who we can look up on YouTube and describe as "world-class" and, obviously, "top 4 quality".
