Not a Norwich fan, but just out of interest, why is Hughton coming under so much pressure? Is it just a section of the crowd or everyone saying 'you don't know what you're doing'?

it's a vocal minority in the ground (maybe 500 or so) and a very vocal minority on message boards and twitter. some criticism is warranted but the majority of the criticism is not and the abuse is bang out of order. a section of our fans are making the rest of us look piss poor at the moment and its embarrassing. i'm afraid it stems from a complete lack of patience and a failure to understand and accept both how tough this division is for a club like us and what we are currently able to achieve. we can already see from the league table that there is a divide in quality. the top 8 (saints deservedly at this stage sit amongst the usual suspects) and the rest. 'the rest' are covered by 3 points from 9th to 18th (where we lie) and then a bigger gap to 19th and 20th. this happens every season but some fans have seen the money spent and assume we should be closer to the top 8 or even in it.

Not worth a separate thread, but if only some of these ****ing tools were as sharp as the knives they're clearly honing in readiness <doh>

Edit : The doombrain who posted the above on facebook thinks Roberto di Matteo is the man to take us to the land of milk and honey.

We have been improving game by game so it makes no sense to get rid now. It feels like we are on the verge of something very good about to start.

Whilst I don't subscribe to the theory personally I can understand people being frustrated as after have a 10-match unbeaten run and beating some pretty serious teams our form slumped last season leaving us needing to do some work in our last four games to stay up. I think that CH's style of play (very defensive) in the second half of the season did not help either. We were playing pretty poor football and spiralling down the league. I can understand people wanting us to do more than survive and if you pay for your season ticket you want your team to either win or at least entertain you. Last season there were matches when NCFC did neither.

This season people are looking at our current league position and combining that with the poor end to last season and thinking that the manager must be an idiot and replaced.

Balanced against this I think that the majority of our fans accept that CH's priorities last season were staying up by whatever means necessary and shoring up the defence. These goals were both achieved.

In the Summer I don't think many criticised CH's signings which for a club of our size represent a significant investment. Looking at the list of the players he bought over the Summer no sane person could argue that our first team and squad is anything other than significantly stronger than it was last season. We have not had the results that this investment should warrant but in my opinion it is still very early and I can see us continuining to improve both performances (which recently have been markedly better than last season) and results.

I can understand people's frustrations but IMO to lose CH now would represent a huge mistake.

this is a damn tough league for a club like norwich. its tough for most clubs. we spent big to keep up with the joneses, not to overtake everyone. people have lost sight of this. had everything clicked straight away then the early optimism of a top half finish was very realistic and even with a slow start, isn't out of the question. but some people think we should be nowhere near the trapdoor this season, simply because we spent lots of money. that is naive.

People also forget that we arrived in the PL with a team built to do no more than try and consolidate in the Championship while also being saddled with paying off the debt. We have spent a lot by our standards, but we are still suffering from having been behind the usual curve in terms of building a team for promotion from the Championship. Cardiff and Hull came up much better prepared in that sense. Not Palace, because they did a Blackpool and their ill-preparedness is showing. Saints, who did what we did but a year later, had the luxury of owner money with which to strengthen significantly in their first year up. None of this makes any difference of course to the people who think we have a God-given right to be in the top half of the PL. But it is fact, and has shaped, and is still shaping what is happening. <ok>

Spot on. City have a solid and experienced defence (now strengthened by the addition of Olsson's pace and acumen) and a mid-field trio that looks stronger with every game. Up front, things have been difficult because we have 3 new strikers, of whom Hooper missed the early games through injury and RvW, who has recently been troubled by a foot injury. Elmander missed one game with a thigh injury, but at the moment is our only fully match-fit striker, as CH said after the match. All three strikers look promising and once fully fit, we could well be on the "verge of something very good about to start", especially if Snodgrass can recover the form he showed last year.

If the clowns had their way and CH was shown the door, i believe we would go back to square one because what we have now is CH's squad and they came to CR BECAUSE of CH. What would it say to those players if he was pushed?

I do think Norwich bought really well over the summer, and whenever I see them live on TV they're entertaining to watch, perhaps just lacking a clinical edge in front of goal. I know there have been one or two disappointing results, but Hughton is a good manager and should lead them to a midtable finish.

Longer answer: because they're clueless fecking twats who can't recognise the obvious improvement in the team despite it being blindingly obvious to a single cell organism.

As someone who was a neutral on the appointment of Hughton I don't think that we are anywhere close to the point where he should be sacked.

I think everyone recognises some sort of improvement in the team Longsight, but is it £23 million pounds better?

3 strikers, none look like scoring

A winger who creates nothing other than lost possession and long range shots

A midfielder who's main purpose is to win the ball and run up and down a field all day.

Its not really blindingly obvious. More of a mild nudge.

Is Bale worth £85 million, and have Real sudddenly become an £85 million pound better team because of him? £23 million´s only a spoonful these days, and anyway what is £23 million pounds better, in your opinion.

I'd say a team that is not built predominantly on physical traits of height, strength, power and speed.
