Parkers tackle on TV was late, really late and his studs in challenge hurt Thomas.

Some Arsenal fans have congratulated him on his "sportsmanship" for waiting to see if he was ok and shaking his hand before he left the field for receiving his 2nd yellow.

There are fears now that TV might not be fit for the Liverpool away game, another huge fixture which we desperately need the few defenders we have left to be fit

Dispite a poor few weeks and nervy start TV and Kos were excellent yesterday and Parker's challenger was petulant in the final minutes of the game they'd already lost being down by 3 goals

So why congratulate a guy who could have harmed our chances at Anfield next weekend!?!?!

  2. Agree with this!

He went studs in on RVP's ankle too in the first half.

Baffles me how violent play can be applauded if you offer you hand afterwards.

Parker is currently the biggest media darling in england. Dont forget in the summer there was the whole media induced "Who will get Scott Parker" story. WHen in reality nobody wanted him so he ended up still at west ham. Then spuds saw an opportunity to get him cheap and made the move. A good move for the rumoured price but he is nothing more than average.

Parker is a good player but he is the most overhyped player we currently have in the premier league. Thats why none of the big clubs went in for him in the summer.

It was a mistimed tackle no more.
I'll applaud any attempt at good sportsmanship in a sport that appears to be dominated by arrogance and deceipt.
He was gracious enough to see that the tackle could have hurt TV and waited around to make sure he was OK, but the reality is that he mistimed the tackle by a small fraction of a second.
There are half a dozen or more tackles like that in every game

  5. Its not good sportsmanship to continually mistime your tackles (mainly because you have no chance of getting the ball) and disregarding any thoughts of the well being of your victim.

Parker was rightly sent off for his antics, and to applaud him for offering a hand to player in pain on the floor, then call TV childish for not immediately shaking his hand, is way off the mark.

He should be applauded imo, he made a bad tackle and new it. None of this i didnt touch him malarky we see these days.

He knew he was wrong and appologied similarly to Givet of blackburn when he got sent off.

Different thread, and I said TV was starting to look a little childish but defended the reaction because of his history with serious injuries.
There was never anything wrong with TV - he did what every other footballer does and that's roll around when you take a hit to convince the ref of how bad the tackle was.
TV got up and finished the last 5 mins of the game.
Not criticising TV, that's how the game is these days, do I like to see it no, but it ain't changing....

  8. You see the problem with this is that at some point he has to stop doing it in the first place. Then if it happens on the rare occasion instead of every game his apologies might actually mean something.

What's the news on TV? I take it he's not playing for Belgium in the international break then.

People need to stop making such a big deal out of sliding challenges or football will soon cease to be a contact sport. Its getting ridiculous what gets a card these days.

Parker was just very commited, went in too hard and apologised to the player afterwards. Fair play I say.

The same 'mistimed tackle' crap was used to try and justify that caveman Scholes throughout most of his Utd days too. Was a crock of **** then and is a crock of **** now when people try to excuse Parker.

Isn't it something like 10 yellows in 22 appearances for the spuds now? Close to 1 booking every other game are a little too often to be accepted as accidents. He is a snide in that he gets away with it by offering an insincere hand after the event etc.

Plus it would be an even worse record if he didnt suck up to refs all game. He is english and loved by the media so the refs go easy on the mug. In reality he is a nasty player and deserves to be banned for a long long time for his repeated bad tackling. He is as bad as de jong was before he got told to calm down.

I hope people start to realise that parker has no holding midfielder abilities beyond kicking people in a vile and disgusting way. Glad we spanked his team and showed him how to play football.

I think Parker has skills, but then the same can be said about Joey Barton & Paul Scholes...

Well ok. He is not bad. He is a decent journeyman footballer similar to joey barton. Can get a job done but nothing special. And he is a nasty player who gets away with it. Maybe he just wants a move to stoke when his spud career is over.

Stoke won't have him. He only slides in with one foot up.

Well he would fit in with the football. Both are long ball teams.

Well its easy when the truth is backed by both of us. And I mean that spuds are a long ball team. They have been for years.

Tbh he did the right thing by checking if TV was OK and that's why people are saying well-played to him

In a game of such magnitude, players do silly things. Parker was obviously frustrated with his team's performance and over-did a challenge. I actually like the guy and don't think he goes into tackles maliciously, not like Scholes does!

He lost his head for a second and corrected his mistake. I also don't think he did it because he was trying to weasel out of a second yellow, his reaction looked very genuine. Obviously, I'll have a right good moan if TV ends up injured for the Pool game but for now, I don't hold any grudges against Parker.
