Well not many but reportedly around 3 have rejected you guys and why do you think that is? Do you think it's got to do with the finances available, purely wrong timing or your owners mentality?
I've only heard that Rogers said no and that was down to him feeling that he was not ready. Who are the othere 2? Just read the De Bour thing, who was the 3rd.
De Boer has only been with Ajax for 18 months and it's his home club so I can understand why he doesn't leave just yet. Klopp is finally beginning to see the fruits of his labour at Dortmund so again, why would he want to leave now? Rodgers - couldn't care less that he's said no and I kinda respect him more as he feels he isn't ready to take on a massive job just yet.
I think it is a very reasonable question to ask frankly and we will get asked more and more as the situation unfolds. Having a shortlist is all well and good but the longer it takes the more you will see guys who may not even be approached start to use the club to their own ends to get better deals... example? who knows if De boer was approached at all. maybe he wants more money off ajax.. deschamps did the exact same last time round. wanting a bigger contract. The thing is whelan blew the lid on martinez so then the media started a frenzy to find who else was on the list. Rodgers came out and said he turned it down. After this a vacuum now exists in which LFC does things the LFC way (privately on its side) and LFC fans must understand its always going to be a media field day creating links etc. LFC via ayre said two weeks. I think we ought to wait and see..... however the question of funds is a reasonable one. Its like spurs, now Chelsea have robbed their spot in the CL they are thanking god that redknapps is not going to england cos no-one good would step in.
Yeah.I guess it's hard to distinguish truth from fact though there's obviously something wrong at the club. Things will hopefully become clearer once the dust settles. Anyways thanks for the responses guys.
I believe Phil Scholari, Alf Ramsay, Mike Bassett, Alex Ferguson, Tony Pulis, Dario Gradi, Alan Hansen, Ally McLeod, Avram Grant, Walter Winterbottom, Paul Lambert, Tony Adams, Bryan Robson, Jose Mourinho, Nigel Clough, Steve Bruce, Lenny Bruce, Bruce Forsyth, Cherrie Lunghi and Kim Il Sung have all refused interviews for the Liverpool post over the weekend. Then again, I did read a LOT of papers I found on the trains this Sunday.
Fair question is that, good to see that rather than constant ****ing wumming from some other Aresenal fans. I reckon some managers (esp AVB) will take their time to come out until they know whats happening at LFC, hes just come from one sacking club, he wont want to end up another one. As for the guys who rejected, some will see what happened to Hodgson and not want it to happen to them, others will have been unhappy about the fact that the hierachy at Anfield is not fully in place yet, others it just isn't the right time for them. Fair question - i like you mate!
I wouldn't read too much into this rejection stuff. There could be any number of valid reasons why different managers don't want the move but the press will just love to make a "story" out of it.
AVB seems to be waiting to see what other offers he gets. I suspect some managers may see following Kenny as a poisoned chalice, now the fan reaction has been atwittered. I think part of Whelan leaking the Martinez interest was in the hopes that the fans would react as we have and put him out of the running so he'd stay at Wigan. I even suspected for a moment that he'd done it with the blessing of FSG to gauge opinion. They don't seem to have handled gaugeing very well in directly asking fans who they wanted via Twitter and the club site because Ronald McDonald was the clear favourite. As I said yesterday, Rafa is the only person I can see who has enough love from the fans to be given time should results not go amazingly well immediately. I think some managers will also know that.
It's the way the process is being run I believe. It's unusual for potential cadidates to be made public (the list) as it turns their heads from their clubs. FSG don't seem to be playing by the old rules of engagement here...
whether they are talking about it or not, they are all going publicly deny it for the sake of their current jobs, i.e. they wouldn't want to damage teir standing with players / fans and then not actually get the job. Denial all round, then a surprise I expect.
Nobody has rejected the job since the job as not been offered to anyone. Rodgers rejected the interview since he thought this would be disrespectful to Swansea especially if he didn't get the job. De Boer has only been at Ajax 18 months and is a big Ajax fan. Hadn't heard of any others.
Exactly, grinds my gears with all this rejection talk, if the job was offered and they said no, then that’s one thing but since all they've done is declined the chance to have a "chat" with us, this rejection talk is a load of BS and lazy media trying to sensationalise everything!
All three have been the wrong timing, which a carefree glance at any newspaper, football website or other media source would confirm! Sorry if that's touchy but the question is so ignorant it sounds like a wind up, but I know from the Arsenal board you're a good poster.
The younger ones: De Boer, Rogers don't feel ready to handle the pressure that comes with the job I wouldn't rule out Deschamps just yet, but Klopp has no experience outside Germany (correct me if I'm wrong) Guardiola's on sabbatical I think that the media are linking us with a lot of the wrong managers just because they are either available or are doing well.
