I'm actually a fan of Chris Ramsey and think he's doing a lot right for our club/squad. But one big issue I have with him is the way he brings new players straight in? Sometimes it can be justified in certain situations but more times than not I disagree with that practice. Why? Because of the tone it sets and the unbalance it brings. Of course, if you've got a player who's underperforming and you bring in a player to replace him, fair enough. But if results have been good and individual performances have been decent or better, why destabilise a team when going up against good opposition? Here's my point: we were on a roll. Grant Hall was bringing in some truly good performances and doing absolutely nothing wrong. I even thought he had a couple of close to MOTM performances. Our team as a whole were scoring more than usual. Then, up against Forest we bring two new players straight in and flounder. For me, the whole problem with the forest game was that we didn't have enough character and fight on the pitch. I'm not questioning Toszer and Angella's characters as I don't know them but it's hard to generate and display that character when you've been stuck straight in to a new team. I looked around the pitch and didn't see enough of it. If we'd stuck to our lineup that was getting the results, we'd have had players that were already well drilled and are feeling part of the team and who have the confidence to fight for the team. The same was to be said for the first half against Blackburn. We've suffered so much from having a lack of character in the squad over the last few teams but eve made better progress with that recently. Why undermine it now?
I read Ale wasn't fit for Forest, and likewise on a heavy pitch the other night he wasn't risked - with his injury history those seem good decisions to me. I also thought Hall did wel, but so did Angela first game for 20 minutes apart from getting nutmegged and giving them a very good chance. Tend to agree with you on that one.
I will also say this, though. The above problem I've highlighted isn't unique to CR. A lot of our past managers and managers of other clubs tend to do it. And I will also say this. I can't understand QPR fans who continuously criticise Chris Ramsey. It's his first full head coach role and he's QPR. Just bloody support him! He's obviously got good intentions and wants to do well. Stop wanting too much too soon for QPR! We're not a really big club. Let's see where we can progress over the next few years. He's a breath of fresh air. Let him develop. I can only imagine that the people slagging him off are the sorts of fans who are still addicted to those crazy dreams of getting to the top of English football quick.
Changed the title....... Must admit I thought it was strange that Angella came straight into the side for Hall whom I thought had looked rather good up to then......maybe Angella is thought to be a better ball player therefore suits Ramsey's thinking on how he wants us to play. I haven't seen Toazer play but believe he has the same style as Faulin so they would be likely to alternate in that position....just a guess and I'm quite content to be corrected on that.....
With you on CR. I thought Tosser looked decent against Forest, made some excellent passes but obviously was not match fit.
I guess the thinking is that if they're going to get up to speed they need games. Realistically, Angella will be better than Hall and Toszer should, on paper, reach Faurlin's level at least.
Question should be why can Toszer go straight in but Sandro cant? Ramsey's got a chip on his shoulder with big names because of his past and because he was part of the management team that put a young Kane in instead of expensive flop Soldado he thinks he's the new Alex Ferguson. We didn't play badly last 2 games because of character, we lost because of a lack of quality in the holding midfield roles and at full back going forward. Because of this we went long too often, that's no good for Chery, Luongo and Phillips game and even Austin will lose far more than he wins like that. Henry shouldn't have started either game and Doughty shouldn't have got on the bench ahead of Sandro vs Blackburn. That smacks of Ramsey's chip on his shoulder with big names. Doughty, Toszer, Henry and Faurlin are 3 of the slowest players you will ever see. But at least Faurlin and (not that he's shown it yet) Toszer have quality on the ball. Sandro should have been put in along with Faurlin at half time vs Blackburn with Henry and Toszer coming off. If Henry starts today then Ramsey really is losing it
Thanks! I thought Toszer seemed a bit lazy. There were a couple of times where he didn't seem to bother running back into defensive duties. He can obviously play the ball and is very good with dead ball kicks.
