I don't think it will be Dawson as i can see dudgeon taking over so who will be captain for me i would give it to Rosenior or Fryatt

James ****ing Harper probably <doh>, though I'd give it to Hobbs if he signed.

Of the players currently here, Rosenior. I don't think he's captain material really, but he's fairly experienced.

I'd imagine Daws will be club captain. I don't think he's gonna be sitting on his arse for 38 games. James 'Arper will probably be on pitch captain and a fine one he is too.

Danns for me, if we get him. I know he captained Palace but not sure of how much of a communicator he is. If we don't get Danns, then I'll go for Norris or if we don't get him then Hobbs. I'd prefer for a midfielder to be captain as they can communicate with all of those on the pitch.

    Doh! If only eh?

And do we really think Norris will walk in and take the armband? I'd imagine there is a much better chance of Chester or Hobbs (if he joins) being captain.

I can't see 'arper playing all that much if we strengthen but if he does, he'll be in contention.

Danns wasn't captain at Palace, their captain's Paddy McCarthy.

Norris was captain at Ipswich and can play the midfield general role, so I'd say he was the ideal candidate.

Sorry, thought I'd seen him captain them a few times. In that case, Norris sounds like our new Ashbee and would be ideal as you say. Of course Ash will never be replaced in the hearts of most Tigers fans.

Norris is a good footballer. He isn't a "new Ashbee". If he plays deep lying, it'll be to create, not destroy.

We do still need a new Ashbee though, our midfield was far too lightweight last season. Has anyone got any ideas who could do that job? Unless of course they continue to use Chester sat in front of the back four if we have Ayala and Hobbs at the back?

Swansea and Norwich have done well this season without having a destroyer in midfield. QPR have Shaun Derry who is more influential than muscular. most of the top teams play with good footballers in the middle. I wouldn't worry too much about it. I think we need to concentrate on getting a bigger physical presence at the front and back and more width, particularly on the left.

A Danns - Norris midfield will make up for not having a destroyer. Both can tackle well and are fairly strong so as long as one stays back we'll be fine.

I'd rather the tea lady be captain than Harper. I think we'll wait and see who we bring in first, NP may decide on the captaincy about a week beore the season starts.Of the players here i'd agree with Rosenior, Koren would have a decent shout but it's debateable whether he'll be here come August.

For me there isn't anyone who is truly suited to being a captain anymore. Everybody's either too quiet or not experienced enough for the role.
