Just been reading a few posts saying how quick Josh King is, which he is. Quicker than Mendy? I can't see it myself, possibly the quickest player we've ever had.

Anyhoo pace for me wins games, we need to hold onto King big time

I think one of the newly promoted prem teams could have a look at King. Man U like academy players to do a season in the Championship, then Premiership then back in house. Tom Cleverley he did Watford/Leicester-Wigan-Man U.

Hard to judge, but I'd say King. If nothing else then King at least utilises it far better than Mendy ever did - I only ever remember once or twice where Mendy actually used his pace to devastating effect - one being the goal vs WBA - whereas King looks far more threatening when he's running with the ball (or whacking it and legging it, either way)
Obviously there's the full back/striker and PL/Championship contrast but I'd still back King.

I think Josh King is just brilliant, I mean really awesome.

He's quite lanky isn't he, so coupled with his natural pace, he isn't half rapid!

I just like the way he keeps it simple - knocks it past the player, head down and ****ing sprint! He'll get past with brute force if necessary, he seems a strong lad too.

Also, I like the fact that when he gets an opportunity, he actually crosses the ****er in! Something sorely missed all season.

If we are talking fast players at City dont forget David Beresford he was so fast he made the defender look like he was running backwards if only he had a good cross in him, but i enjoyed him skinning the opposition time and again.

Agreed. They both have pace in abundance but King uses it to devestating effect. Mendy used to just amble around pretending his light jog was enough to beat a defender by the end of his time with us. King has a bit of power as well and most importantly he's one of the best strikers of a ball in our team too. I'd love it if we can keep him next season.

I think King is quicker than Mendy.

But I miss Mendy, we barely have any players who capable of a decent head-butt at the moment.

I hope Nick addresses this area in the summer.

IMO, King is far quicker than Mendy and does have a shot on him. King has only just got going and after the season he has had i would think Man Utd may well let him go. But if not then a season long loan deal back to us. Brady is another who simply is not yet ready for the PL at any club. With the talent that will be available this summer everywhere i dont think we shall have much competition. Furthermore King may want to stay.!! Time will tell.

I'd say so, shame he didn't have Jenks little trick too otherwise he would have been a world beater for us!

Did that Jenks trick come from watching Chris Galvin in the 70's as a kid ? just a thought like ?

Might have just been before his time that Tickler. Got to say I learnt to copy that trick myself and Andy Paytons little feint, good times for aspiring footballers watching these geniuses play for us back in the day!

In the 70's it was called the Galvin shuffle. It was great at first until full backs worked it out. Man Utd fans used to pull there puds over Ronaldo doing what Galvin did 30 years back. New Dogs with Old Tricks springs to mind.

Memories of Dave Beresford always make me smile, because he was very quick and could beat his man wqith a trick or two.But every time he did that,he clearly got over exited and ran the ball straight into to touch !

Thing with King is, he has only scored one league goal in his career, i doubt many PL teams will be after him which i think will be to our benefit. As i think basically every one of us would take him back for another season as he has developed so well in just 6 months, imagine what he could do with us over a full season.
