It looks as though United have made Phil Jones of Blackburn the first signing of the close season. With competition for places at centre half being somewhat crowded it is difficult to see how he will fit in.

However this is obviously seen by Sir Alex as being one for the future as he is only 19. Who know's what Sir Alex is thinking he is versatile and can play in midfield as well.

It will be interesting to see what other surprises Sir Alex might pull off this Summer with the signings of Ashley Young and David De Gea looking likely for Old Trafford.

Would like the opinions of fellow reds on whether Sir Alex will surprise us supporters again?....Maybe Nasri?

I think SAF is looking at Jones and Smalling as a long term partnership to replace Vidic and Rio. That probably also means that Evans is leaving, either for Bolton or Blackburn.

I reckon one of Ashley Young / Nasri will arrive to solve our left wing issue - Nani isn't great on the left, Park isn't a true winger, and Giggs is getting on a bit. It may also pave the way for Nani to leave in a swap deal with Inter for Sneijder.

I also expect a centre mid to arrive to replace Scholes, with Cleverly stepping up as well to probably replace Gibson who looks like he may be on his way out.

    This <ok>

To be honest I'd rather Nani left now - while we can still get a good player in return - than leave in a couple of years for less.

i think fergie was looking to bring jones in next summer. but the interest of spurs, liverpool and arsenal forced his hand.
