Not to be a pessimist (more a realist I think at this stage), who would you like to see stay or go if we get relegated?

I would personally like to keep the following:

    - Helguson/Bothroyd/Campbell. These fellas would do a great job between them in the championship.
    - Smith/Mackie/Derry/Buszaky- no nonsense pros who are well established. Great servants of the club. Mackie establishing himself as a bit of a Hoops legend.
    - Kenny/Hill- still believe that he is a heat shot stopper. Big defensive errors have made him look worse. Kept us in the game v Liverpool. Hill is solid.

    As for these guys:
-Tarrabt - say no more. Genius match winner. But with taste of premier league reckon he will go.
-Faurlin - if he returns as the same player some prem club will defo snap him up. Watch this space.
-Traore/Onohua/Ferdinand- well, not sure. Would like to see them stay. But reckon they would be squad players in the prem.
    - Cisse/Zamora - will never ever stay.
    - SWP - Disapointing, but can't help but feel that he will still come food. Though defo running out of games and has had plenty of chances. Feel sorry for him as he has been close many times. Lacking confidence.
-Barton - would LOVE it if he left the club. Utter dross. Jammiest bastard alive earning that sort of dollar.
    - Diakite - dunno. Loves the ball at his feet. Wish he would learn to pass.
Just a few thoughts. Needed to get it off my chest. Still struggling with the mixed feelings of euphoria from the upper loft on weds night and then the massive anti-climax of Saturday.

If we go down, I'd be very surprised if any premier league club snapped up:

Ferdinand, Onuoha, Barton, Zamora, SWP, Traore. On the simple basis, none of them have performed, and none of them are better than what the other clubs already have.

Sadly, the only ones on PL wages who will leave are the ones who want football rather than money. The new signings will never get another contract on the same money so if they are mercenaries, they will just stay and pick up their money and probably play poor in the NPC.

The only player who has performed is the one who I want to stay, Traore.

My worries about Traore is that he is very fragile and still can not tackle and is sooooooooooooooo one footed it is quite unbelievable he has made it as a pro. Having said that I do like his speed and gives us on option going forward but only on the left which limits him.

Given a bit more time to adjust Taiwo would be a better player IMO.(but he will not stay) bit pointless answer really!!!!

I think the strapline would more like - Redemption if we keep the squad together or Return of the Champions if we lose all the new signings.

    Decent summary there Newbury

I really want those players that give their all for the club to stay. Sadly this doesn't include many of the 2011/12 season signings. Traore / Diakite / Taiwo would all be great players in the Championship, though Taiwo I guess won't want to stay given he's just on loan at present and could play in the Prem or overseas

I'd really like to see us bring in some younger players (like Traore) who have something to prove and will put in a shift every week. Supported by established pros like Mackie, Hill etc and I think we'd have a decent Championship squad

However, will it give us the necessary edge to extracate ourselves from the hoof ball league?

The players themselves you could argue are all premiership quality who should be able to do a good job in the championship - they just need a system and organising into a team. Do we trust the buffoon Hughes to be that man? If not him who else?

If/when the Hoops are relegated, I reckon the following will be among those leaving: Hughes, Cisse, Zamora, Taarabt, Barton, Ferdinand, Diakite, Taiwo. I'd be sad to see only a few of this lot go, and it would leave us with the likes of Kenny, Hill, Gabbidon, Derry, Helguson, Campbell, Mackie, Buzsaky, Bothroyd - ie players who without doubt have the talent to get us back up. The only worry is who will replace Hughes as manager.

A lot of people on here seen sure that Mr Hughes will leave,i'm not so sure, i cant see TF sacking him and he must have known there was a possibility we could be relegated, the man must have some pride and will possibly want to prove a point, attain promotion and build a team for the future, the talk of a new training ground and building an academy may appeal to the mans ego
